Job Description:

Summary

Provides primary implementation, management, and support for core technology infrastructure systems, including but not limited to switches, routers, and servers. Maintains monitoring and documentation for core infrastructure. Works closely with vendors and service providers with installations and provides College data and voice connectivity along with troubleshooting issues. Responds to incidents in the on-call rotation. Performs essential functions below with guidance from Network Technicians.

Essential Functions

  • Performs server and network administration
  • Installs, configures, diagnoses and repairs network switching infrastructure
  • Provides technical level II troubleshooting and resolution for a College-wide network
  • Installs, configures, diagnoses and repairs all server infrastructure
  • Maintains all aspects of the infrastructure through regular upgrades, patches and replacement
  • Installs, configures, diagnoses and repairs major infrastructure services, such as, but not limited to: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Email
  • Collaborates with all internal and external stakeholders to implement the best technology solution
  • Works with vendors to resolve infrastructure issues
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to travel to various College sites for installs and updates
  • Participates in an on-call rotation for approximately a week approximately every month
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

  • Associate Degree
    • Significant related experience may substitute for education
  • Minimum of one year of fulltime IT networking experience, may include internship and co-operative experience
  • Demonstrated network management and support experience
  • Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in a role requiring dynamic and abstract problem-solving methods in adaptive situations

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment;
  • The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated;
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.;
  • Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite

Target Starting Salary Range: $43,000 to $46,500

The final offer for the successful candidate is targeted to fall within this range but will be based upon an assessment of internal equity, the unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications in relation to the minimum and/or preferred job requirement(s). 

Special Note: If hired, you must reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance of this work location/campus to respond to onsite work demands upon the employment start date and throughout the duration of your employment with the College, as outlined in 3354:1-40-01.1 Recruitment and Selection Procedure .
