The Shop Lead at Cutting Edge plays a vital role in supporting daily branch operations by maintaining an organized, efficient, and safe work environment in the shop and landscape yard. This position ensures materials, tools, and equipment are properly maintained, stored, and distributed to crews to keep projects running smoothly. The ideal candidate is reliable, resourceful, and takes pride in keeping operations running seamlessly year-round.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the organization, cleanliness, and functionality of the shop and landscape yard.
- Ensure storage bins are stocked, labeled, and organized for easy access.
- Assist field crews with organizing materials, loading trucks, and coordinating timely deliveries to job sites.
- Facilitate and track maintenance and repair needs for trucks, trailers, and equipment.
- Perform light mechanical repairs as needed; assist with welding and fabrication when necessary.
- Conduct seasonal repairs and maintenance on snowplows and other snow equipment.
- Participate in snow removal operations during the winter season as required (may include nights, weekends, and holidays).
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, repairs, and deliveries.
- Communicate effectively with operations, fleet, and field teams to ensure workflow efficiency.
- Uphold company safety standards and promote a culture of safe work practices.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a shop, yard, or equipment maintenance role preferred.
- Basic mechanical aptitude; ability to troubleshoot and repair small equipment or vehicles.
- Welding and torch operation experience a plus.
- Computer literacy a plus (for logging repairs, managing inventory, or communication).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and committed to quality work.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Work may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions year-round.
- Must be able to stand, bend, and move for extended periods.
