Custom Steel Manufacturing is looking for a hands-on Shop Foreman to oversee daily operations, mentor a growing team of fabricators/welders, press brake and plate rolling operators and keep production running smoothly as the shop expands. You’ll balance leadership with field-level know-how—directing workflow, enforcing safety and quality standards, and rolling up your sleeves to get the job done right.

What you’ll do
- Lead daily operations on the fabrication floor—assign work, set priorities, and track progress
- Coordinate with the owner/operations manager on project schedules, staffing, and new hires as the team grows
- Ensure jobs meet drawing specifications, tolerances, and customer requirements
- Provide first-line quality control—inspect parts, layouts, and welds
- Coach, train, and evaluate shop employees, setting clear expectations and goals
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment; enforce PPE and safety procedures
- Manage material flow, equipment maintenance, and shop supplies
- Support fabrication and welding as needed (hands-on when production demands)
- Communicate proactively with management on production goals and challenges
What you bring
- 5 years fabrication experience in heavy-steel or structural manufacturing
- Strong blueprint reading, layout, and inspection skills
- Experience operating fab equipment (press brake, ironworker, saws, drills, etc.)
- Proven leadership or lead-person experience in a production or fabrication setting
- Excellent communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- High school diploma/GED required; trade or technical training preferred
Pay, schedule & location
- Pay: $90,000 (based on experience) Bonus Potential
- Schedule: Mon–Fri, 8:00am–4:30pm (overtime available as needed)
- Location: Belton, Missouri (in-person role)
