Join Our Fabrication Team
Custom Steel Manufacturing is seeking an experienced steel fabricator to join our production team in Belton, Missouri. This is a hands-on shop position for someone with strong fabrication skills who can work from drawings and specifications to produce accurate, high-quality steel components and assemblies.
This position is primarily focused on steel fabrication, fitting, and assembly, which accounts for approximately 80% of the role. MIG welding makes up approximately 20% of the position and is performed as needed throughout the fabrication process.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and job specifications
- Measure, mark, and lay out steel accurately before fabrication
- Fit, align, and assemble heavy and structural steel components
- Check dimensions, alignment, and fit throughout the fabrication process
- Perform MIG welding as needed to complete fabricated assemblies
- Grind, clean, and prepare completed pieces
- Safely operate applicable fabrication and shop equipment
- Identify fabrication issues and make necessary adjustments
- Inspect finished work for accuracy, fit, and overall workmanship
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized condition
- Follow established safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of professional steel fabrication experience
- Experience fabricating heavy and/or structural steel
- Ability to accurately read and work from blueprints and shop drawings
- Strong skills in measuring, layout, fitting, and assembly
- Hands-on MIG welding experience
- Ability to complete assigned fabrication work with limited supervision
- Dependable attendance and consistent attention to quality
- Ability to work effectively with other members of the production team
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for the majority of the workday
TIG welding experience is a plus but is not required.
Pay & Incentives
- $25.00–$30.00 per hour based on experience and skill level

Work Schedule
Monday through Friday
8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Additional overtime may be available depending on production schedules, project workload, and customer deadlines.
