Join Our Custom Steel Fabrication Team
Custom Steel Manufacturing is seeking a skilled Press Brake Operator to join our production team in Belton, Missouri.
This position is for an experienced operator who is comfortable setting up and operating manual press brake equipment used to form heavy-gauge steel components. Our work involves custom fabrication, so you must be able to read drawings, determine proper setups, select tooling, and produce parts that meet required dimensions and specifications.
We are looking for someone with a minimum of three years of hands-on press brake experience who can work accurately and independently in a fabrication environment.
What You'll Do
- Set up and operate manual press brake equipment to form heavy steel components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, fabrication prints, and work orders.
- Select and install appropriate punches, dies, and tooling.
- Determine proper bend sequences and machine setups for each job.
- Make adjustments based on steel thickness, material characteristics, and required dimensions.
- Form parts to specified angles, measurements, and tolerances.
- Inspect first-piece production before proceeding with additional parts.
- Check completed work throughout the forming process for accuracy and consistency.
- Use measuring equipment to verify angles, dimensions, and finished parts.
- Make setup or machine adjustments when necessary to correct forming results.
- Complete required production and job documentation.
- Work with fabrication and welding personnel to keep projects moving through production.
- Maintain a clean and organized machine and work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on press brake operating experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
- Experience setting up and operating manual press brake equipment.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, fabrication drawings, and shop prints.
- Knowledge of press brake tooling, bend sequences, forming techniques, and material behavior.
- Ability to accurately measure finished parts and verify bend angles and dimensions.
- Experience working with heavy-gauge steel is strongly preferred.
- Strong attention to accuracy and workmanship.
- Ability to troubleshoot forming issues and make necessary machine adjustments.
- Dependable attendance and ability to work effectively with limited supervision.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain physically active throughout the workday.
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Compensation and Opportunities
- Starting pay of $25.00-$30.00 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated ability.

Work Schedule
Monday through Friday
8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Additional overtime may be available based on workload and customer deadlines.
