Certified Medical Assistant / Office Assistant
Position Summary
At Promise Community Health Center - Monticello, the Certified Medical Assistant plays a key role in supporting providers and patients across all aspects of primary care. This role involves patient assessment, assisting in clinical tests and procedures, and ensuring that care is delivered efficiently and compassionately. In addition to CMA duties, this role will also have additional front desk/clerical responsibilities detailed below. Job Functions/Responsibilities:
- Greets patients and escorts them to the exam room.
- Takes and records vital and patient medical information in chart.
- Prepares patient room for exam.
- Assists Provider in procedures as necessary.
- Completes ordered lab procedures.
- Wound care and suture removal as directed by Provider.
- Administers EKGs as directed by Provider.
- Communicates results of all procedures and tests to Provider.
- Discharges patient to receptionist.
- Cleans and disinfects exam rooms after use and maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment.
- Restocks supplies, linens, equipment, and checks for defects and outdating.
- Complies with established patient care standards.
- Consults with and keeps supervisor informed of clinic activities, needs, and problems related to patient care
- Maintains clinic policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.
- Collaborates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee interdepartmental and public relations.
- Pursuing professional growth and development through seminars and educational sessions is required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Additional Front Desk/Clerical Responsibilities:
- Cheerfully greets and assists patients and visitors, answers telephone, schedules appointments and referrals, and files and collects payments.
- Answers triage calls and maintains records of exams.
- Registers patients, helps with the completion of necessary forms, and directs to the appropriate staff person, if needed.
- Completes encounter form upon arrival and checking out (electronic and/or paper).
- Assists Physician, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Assistants, and Office Manager as requested.
- Maintains neat, clean, and professional work area.
- Follows established department policies.
- Assists in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of Certified Medical Assistant Program
- CPR Certification
- Maintain required continuing education courses
- Experience preferred
Schedule Requirements:
Full-time position, 5 days per week, 100% clinic-based, in person work required.
Work schedules are set at the discretion of CFMC and may be adjusted at any time based on the operational needs of the organization.
