Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Systems Engineer 4. The work will be done onsite full-time in Tucson, AZ. This is a long-term 24-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $62/hr full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
Cullerton Group is seeking a Systems Engineer to support autonomous truck integration and validation activities within a highly advanced mining and off-highway equipment environment. This role will focus on testing, troubleshooting, validating, and improving autonomous machine systems while working closely with software developers, operators, and engineering teams. The engineer will support real-world autonomous haul truck testing, analyze system performance data, and help resolve mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience with large autonomous machines and next-generation autonomy technologies.
Key Responsibilities
• Create, update, and execute test and validation plans for autonomous haul truck systems
• Perform hands-on testing and troubleshooting of autonomous machine systems in live operating environments
• Analyze test data and provide recommendations to improve system functionality and reliability
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues on autonomous equipment
• Document testing results, validation activities, and issue resolution findings
• Collaborate with software development teams and onsite operators to support system integration and testing
• Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to cross-functional teams
• Support continuous improvement of autonomous system performance and validation processes
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
• 5–7 years of experience in systems engineering, validation, testing, or autonomous systems development
• Experience troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, or software systems
• Strong computer literacy and experience working within Windows operating systems
• Strong problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently in dynamic field-testing environments
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in vehicle testing, validation, or control systems development
• Familiarity with autonomous systems such as perception, planning, or positioning technologies
• Experience with Ubuntu or Linux operating systems
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
• Experience creating test plans, validation documentation, and technical reports
• Experience working with heavy equipment, mining equipment, off-highway vehicles, or industrial machinery preferred
