Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer 4 (Industrial Manufacturing Project Engineer). The work will be done onsite in Pontiac, IL. This is a long-term 12-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is $51/hr full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
Cullerton Group is seeking an experienced Industrial Manufacturing Project Engineer to support large-scale manufacturing operations focused on process flow optimization, throughput improvement, and Lean transformation initiatives. This role will work closely with production, supply chain, quality, finance, and maintenance teams to improve operational performance across the manufacturing value stream. The engineer will lead continuous improvement projects, optimize workforce and material flow strategies, and support digital transformation efforts including KPI digitization and automation initiatives. This position is ideal for a hands-on manufacturing professional who thrives in fast-paced production environments and enjoys solving complex operational challenges.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, analyze, and optimize end-to-end material and manufacturing process flows across production operations
• Lead Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as value stream mapping, A3, and DMAIC
• Improve throughput, reduce WIP, minimize lead times, and eliminate production bottlenecks
• Develop staffing models, labor utilization plans, and capacity planning strategies aligned with production demand
• Lead digital transformation initiatives including KPI digitization, workflow automation, and autonomous manufacturing technologies
• Partner with production, quality, maintenance, finance, and supply chain teams to align operational priorities and drive performance improvements
• Monitor and improve key operational metrics including throughput, capacity utilization, delivery performance, and productivity
• Provide leadership and technical guidance to cross-functional teams supporting manufacturing operations and process optimization efforts
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
• 8 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, or production operations within a manufacturing environment
• Strong experience with capacity planning, workforce optimization, Lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies
• Experience leading manufacturing projects and coordinating cross-functional operational initiatives
• Working knowledge of Power Apps, workflow automation, and data analytics tools
• Experience with CAD software and manufacturing process analysis
• Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced production environments with multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
• MODAPTS certification
• Experience with AI tools or manufacturing automation technologies
• Experience supporting digital manufacturing transformation initiatives
• Background in high-volume manufacturing or industrial production environments
• Leadership or team guidance experience preferred
