Contract Duration: 24 Months Contract with possibility of Extension
Shift Structure: First Shift | 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday (Occasional OT)
Pay Rate: $33.00 - $37.00/hr on W2
Job Description:
Our client is seeking an energetic and collaborative Line Support Engineer (CI Design Engineer) to join their Baling & Mowing engineering division in Ottumwa, IA. In this role, you will act as a core design engineer providing real-time support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement (CI) solutions for an active windrower platform production line. You will evaluate design variations to reduce product costs, maximize factory floor throughput, modify models in Creo, and analyze data to implement engineering changes safely. This is an incredible, long-term 24-month contract footprint specifically tailored for an entry-level to intermediate engineer looking to rapidly expand their hands-on mechanical and manufacturing engineering capabilities.
Required Skills:
- Utilizes 3D CAD modeling systems (Creo preferred) to update, modify, and optimize structural components and mechanical assemblies
- Partners directly with shop floor operations to perform real-time troubleshooting, line-support diagnostics, and structured problem-solving.
- Coordinates cross-functional design solutions by actively collaborating with supply management, test teams, and component suppliers.
- Evaluates technical data packages, part specifications, and manufacturing tolerances to resolve routine assembly-line issues.
- Communicates technical concepts smoothly across a dynamic team and maintains flexibility to work occasional overtime to back up production runs.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a closely matching technical engineering discipline.
- 1 to 3 years of professional engineering experience or highly technical internship/co-op exposure working with physical machinery or assembly components.
- Clear understanding of fundamental mechanical design rules, structural loading principles, and technical documentation.
- Preferred Technical Pluses: Prior exposure to product verification & validation (V&V) testing, factory weld/assembly processes, Excel tracking sheets, or SAP systems.
- Submission Constraint: Candidates previously submitted to target requisition JP43428 cannot be considered or re-reviewed for this role.
