Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Personal Care Assistant to support individuals with various health and mobility needs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about caregiving, possess strong observational skills, and have experience working with individuals with disabilities, seniors, or those requiring specialized memory or dementia care. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in clients' lives by providing compassionate, comprehensive support tailored to their unique needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance.
- Monitor and observe patients’ health status, noting any changes or concerns to ensure timely intervention.
- Support medication administration and ensure adherence to care plans while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality standards.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning in accordance with dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Operate patient lifting equipment such as Hoyer lifts safely and effectively to prevent injury.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning and sanitation practices aligned with health regulations.
- Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering a positive environment that promotes dignity and respect for residents.
Skills
- Proven experience in home health, assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care environments.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs monitoring, and basic nursing procedures.
- Familiarity with Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality at all times.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Certifications in CPR and First Aid are required; additional training in hospice or hospice care is a plus.
