This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on expertise with high-speed sewing machines, and the ability to develop and document maintenance plans, rebuild instructions, and compliance procedures.

Position Summary The Mechanical Technician is an experienced maintenance professional responsible for supporting equipment installation, inspection, and rebuild processes to ensure optimal performance in production environments. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on expertise with high-speed sewing machines, and the ability to develop and document maintenance plans, rebuild instructions, and compliance procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform initial IQ/OQ checks to confirm proper equipment installation and orientation.
- Inspect mechanical aspects of equipment (alignment, torque tests, guards, free-moving parts).
- Develop and document centerlines, AM/PM maintenance plans, and CILs.
- Create rebuild instructions for equipment and ensure compliance with LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) requirements.
- Safely work around energized equipment.
- Understand production, packaging, and conveying systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and provide training to new resources.
- Maintain documentation and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and/or engineering degree/experience.
- 10 years of experience in high-speed sewing machine rebuilds.
- 10 years of high-speed sewing machine rebuild experience
- Technical mastery in following work instructions and standards for complex rebuilds
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve sewing defects
- Coaching and training skills for centerlines and machine settings
- Experience assisting with tear down and rebuild of high-speed sewing machines in production
- Ability to set up equipment to centerline and assess production line setups
- Mechanical expertise in alignment, torque tests, tensions, guards, and free-moving parts
- Training and qualification of new sewing resources
- Ability to update standards and implement improvements
- Troubleshooting sewing machines in production for defects and outages
- Full understanding of LOTO requirements and working around energized equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and/or experience
