What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Process Engineer – Nuclear Fuel / UF6 Systems position at CT19?
We’re working with a specialist engineering organisation supporting nuclear fuel cycle and uranium enrichment programs.
They are seeking a Senior Process Engineer with deep expertise in UF₆ systems to lead complex engineering projects across design, safety, and operational readiness. This role will play a key part in the development and delivery of systems within highly regulated nuclear environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead engineering activities across UF₆ gas handling and uranium processing systems
- Deliver process design, safety basis documentation, and operational readiness reviews
- Support preparation and review of licensing and regulatory documentation (DOE, NRC)
- Design and oversee systems including vacuum systems, piping, valves, and UF₆-rated components
- Develop and review P&IDs, PFDs, and NQA-1 compliant calculations
- Provide technical oversight for nuclear facilities and hazardous processing systems
- Support startup, commissioning, and operational performance of process systems
- Conduct vendor evaluations and support procurement of nuclear-grade equipment
- Collaborate across engineering, safety, and operations teams to ensure compliance and delivery
What We’re Looking For:
- MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or similar
- 15 years of experience in nuclear, chemical, or process engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with UF₆ systems and associated equipment
- Experience with process modelling (flow, pressure, conductance, system performance)
- Familiarity with DOE and NRC regulatory frameworks
- Strong understanding of process safety, system design, and compliance requirements
- Proven ability to lead complex engineering projects
Desirable:
- Experience in uranium chemistry and enrichment (centrifuge or laser)
- Strong background in NQA-1 environments and nuclear safety standards
- Experience supporting major nuclear facilities or government programs
