The Position
Job Title: Brokerage Account Management & Operations Lead
Job Type: Full-time; Hybrid
Responsibilities:
- Own a portfolio of existing customer accounts with a mandate to grow them
- Build relationships across customer organizations; understand shipping patterns, identify new lanes, and expand wallet share
- Partner with the principal to onboard new accounts and establish a strong operational foundation; once stable, take full ownership of the relationship and growth trajectory
- Execute loads end to end: carrier sourcing, rate negotiation, load building in the TMS, tracking, and exception handling
- Become the person key customers trust to get freight covered reliably and competitively
- Serve as escalation point for claims, OS&D, service failures, and difficult carrier negotiations
- Manage to margin targets and help the team stay disciplined
- Audit load entries to ensure buy rates and assumptions are correct vs. current market
- Track and report on load counts, margin per load, and carrier performance
- Vet carriers against safety and insurance requirements
- Negotiate directly with carriers to secure competitive rates and reliable capacity
- Standardize the shipment process so execution is consistent regardless of who is running the load
- Train and onboard new ops coordinators/dispatchers as the team grows
- Become a power user of the TMS; drive adoption of features that reduce manual work
Experience:
- 5-8 years of progressive experience in freight brokerage operations and business development (account management, carrier sourcing, rate negotiation, load coverage, sales management)
- Experience supporting enterprise/high-touch accounts with multiple stakeholders and high expectations for responsiveness
- Agency model or multi-rep support experience is a plus
- Proficient in Highway, DAT, and at least one major TMS (TAI, McLeod, MercuryGate, or similar)
- Management/supervisory experience (leading a small team or running cross-functional initiatives)
- Strong preference for Atlanta-based candidates or willingness to relocate; hybrid office environment

Compensation Details: This position offers a competitive base salary plus bonus.
