This role focuses on optimizing how freight moves across the business by balancing company-owned trucks, brokerage, and third-party capacity.
The Director of Logistics plays a critical role in building structure, improving efficiency, and creating a scalable operation that supports continued growth. This position requires a hands-on leader who can drive accountability, make strategic decisions, and ensure high levels of service across all customers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds and may infrequently lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day trucking operations, including dispatch, scheduling, routing, and equipment utilization
- Manage, support, and develop drivers, dispatchers, and operational staff
- Evaluate workload and determine the most efficient method of moving freight (internal fleet, brokerage, or third-party carriers)
- Build, develop, and maintain relationships with third-party carriers and owner-operators
- Establish and grow a reliable network of owner-operators to support scalable capacity
- Create structure, accountability, and consistency across transportation operations
- Monitor and manage financial performance, including cost control and operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including DOT, IFTA, and safety requirements
- Maintain high service levels for both internal and external customers
- Implement systems, processes, and reporting to support operational visibility and growth
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in transportation strategy and execution
- Maintain strong relationships that build a solid understanding of operational trucking needs with management team members within McGrew Equipment and Crownstone Equipment
- Collaborate with internal departments to align transportation with overall business needs
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Proven experience in trucking, logistics, or transportation management required
- Strong understanding of fleet operations, freight brokerage, and third-party carrier models
- Experience building and managing carrier or owner-operator relationships
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and optimize transportation operations
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and cost control
- Ability to problem-solve and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with transportation or ERP systems preferred
- A well-structured and efficient transportation operation

- Competitive base salary (based on experience): $100,000 – $120,000
