Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate with shippers, consignees, vendors, agents, etc. to effectively manage each shipment.
- Negotiate and determine appropriate pricing based on volumes, service lanes and potential business for both carriers and customers.
- Work directly with new and existing carriers to obtain pricing.
- Certify pricing calculations for each client to meet the profit goal and cover overhead costs. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and industry standards.
- Collaborate with the sales team to establish procedures and identify ways to grow business lanes.
- Communicate with shippers, consignees, vendors, agents, etc. to effectively manage each shipment.

- Work directly with new and existing carriers to obtain pricing.

- Collaborate with the sales team to establish procedures and identify ways to grow business lanes.
- Monitor customer shipment and the quality control of carrier and performance.
- Develop and implement effective cost control measures, maintain records of quoted rates, monitor profitability, settle discrepancies, ensure correct billing and invoicing to customer for timely payments to carriers.
- Organize documentation, clearances, shipping mode, delivery, tracking and notifications. Maintain contact management system similar to CRM to determine established contacts.
- Develop and solicit new accounts via telephone or email while generating price quotes, coordinating scheduling, entering orders and negotiating rates with carriers.
- Provide support to transportation coordinators on building strategies to grow business with existing and potential clients.
- Analyze and recommend business opportunities for improvement that optimize performance.
Education & Credentials:
Bachelor’s degree in business, administration, transportation and logistics, or related field; or a combination of post-high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.
Experience
- 1 to 3 or more years’ experience preferred in truck transportation, truck brokerage, supply chain management, import/export transportation, customer service, negotiations or related experience.
- Prior experience coordinating transport schedules, performing technical reviews and handling transportation planning.
- Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously while meeting assigned deadlines.
- Ability to function effectively with, or as part of a team.
- Skilled in preparing clear and concise documents, including but not limited to reports, procedures, correspondences and other written materials.
- Knowledge of the concepts, principles and practices of import forwarding and customs brokerage in a domestic and/or international capacity.
- Familiar with logistics and transportation principles, concepts and methodologies including inventory management, moving product via various modes, cost analysis and resource optimization.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
