As a Respiratory Therapist, your skills and expertise will be necessary for the education and treatment of our patients. Our 24-hour facility treats patients from all backgrounds and levels of care. This is your chance to develop and master your skills with the opportunity to work in our Regional Level 4 NICU, Level 3 Trauma Center Emergency Department, Adult Medical ICU, Adult Neuro ICU, Sleep Center, Catheterization laboratory, and Acute Care Medical/Surgical Units.
Schedule: 3:00pm - 3:30am or 7:00pm - 7:30am, working every other weekend
Pay Rate: $32.50 - $45.33 / hour
Responsibilities:
- Communicate, teach and explain the rationale of therapy to patients and family members.
- Respond to emergency calls and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation as well as implement emergency oxygen and arterial blood gas protocol as necessary.
- Draw routine and emergency arterial blood gases and interpret results to monitor the patient's respiratory and ventilatory status.
- Monitor and troubleshoot adult, pediatric (Emergency Department/Cath Lab), and neonatal ventilators; change ventilator tubing and other respiratory equipment.
- Provide oxygen therapy according to physician's order, perform oximetry readings to accurately determine oxygen saturation, nocturnal oximetry studies, make oxygen rounds to document patient usage and complete micro-draws where appropriate.
- Perform respiratory parameters, extubations, tracheostomy tube changes, endotracheal suctioning, and transporting critically ill patients within the hospital.
- Evaluate, set up and monitor patients receiving Non-Invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation (NIPPV) and BIPAP assistance.
Requirements:
Required:
- Two year Associates Degree in Respiratory Care at an AMA-approved program.
- Current New York State License as a Respiratory Therapist
- Credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required within one (1) year of hire.
- Pediatric Advances Life Support (PALS) is required within one (1) year of hire.
- Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, healthcare/hospital related I.T/I.S programs, and databases
