Youth Development Specialist, Alpha - $100,000/year USD

Crossover
Swansea, MA Full Time
POSTED ON 7/24/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 9/19/2026
  • On-site role in Springfield, MA (we provide relocation assistance)
  • $100,000 annual compensation, distributed weekly. Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage begins on day one

Do you notice when a student reaches 99% and instinctively know that stopping short means settling? Truly supporting a young person who's achieved 99% of their target means refusing to accept incomplete effort. If that expectation feels too demanding, this position won't be the right fit. If it energizes you—because you understand that maintaining high standards demonstrates your confidence in a student's ability to succeed—continue reading.

Alpha operates differently than conventional schools. Students complete a full academic day's work in roughly two hours using adaptive technology. There are no traditional lectures or textbooks. Your role centers on what technology cannot replicate: developing life competencies in Pre-K through 8th grade students—skills like public speaking, sustained attention, and constructive feedback exchange. You'll spend half your time facilitating hands-on workshops guided by structured frameworks and narrative techniques. The remaining half involves individual and small-group sessions where you analyze student performance in adaptive platforms via Coachbot analytics and ensure they reach 100% of weekly targets. Mastery is demonstrated through Test2Pass evaluations, not through participation metrics.

This is highly selective work. Your first year will focus on mastering the model: facilitating workshops, conducting motivation sessions, administering mastery evaluations, and demonstrating your capacity to hold every student accountable to 100% completion. Excel in this foundation and advancement to Lead Guide becomes available. The role requires warmth, commanding presence, and uncompromising standards. Submit your application now.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life competency workshops covering public speaking, sustained focus, collaborative work, and feedback exchange, calibrating your delivery and energy for Pre-K through 8th grade developmental ranges
  • Conducting daily individual and small-group coaching sessions where you analyze each student's adaptive learning app performance (via Coachbot analytics), establish clear objectives, and ensure they achieve 100% of weekly benchmarks
  • Administering and assessing Test2Pass evaluations to verify genuine mastery of each life skill, distinguishing true competency from mere attendance
  • Deploying focused interventions when students lag academically or in active participation—diagnosing underlying issues and constructing targeted recovery strategies
  • Cultivating authentic connections with each student, creating the trust foundation necessary for effective coaching through moments of resistance, distraction, and uncertainty

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Delivering lectures or conventional academic lessons (core subject learning happens through adaptive platforms, not direct instruction from you)
  • Creating original lesson plans or curriculum materials (Alpha supplies comprehensive life skills frameworks; you execute them with dynamism and narrative skill)
  • Handling parent communications or administrative operations (Campus Leads manage these functions; your attention remains on student development)
  • Evaluating homework assignments or preparing students for standardized testing (these elements are absent from our model)
  • Operating independently without collaboration (you function within a campus team including Lead Guides, Campus Leads, and colleagues who exchange feedback and maintain mutual accountability)

Youth Development Specialist Key Responsibilities

Guarantee that every student in your cohort develops genuine enthusiasm for school, achieves mastery in critical life competencies, and reaches 100% of their academic objectives through adaptive learning technology.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of direct experience working with Pre-K through 8th grade students (in teaching, coaching, counseling, or youth program leadership capacities).
  • Demonstrated experience motivating or coaching Pre-K through 8th grade students toward academic, behavioral, athletic, or extracurricular objectives, with at least one concrete example you can articulate (including the objective, your specific actions, and measurable outcome).
  • Receptiveness to a coaching-centered approach where academic instruction is delivered entirely through the learning platform. Your function is motivational guidance and development, not core subject teaching.
  • Regular use of generative AI applications (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude).
  • Availability for on-site work at Alpha's Springfield, MA campus (relocation assistance available).
  • Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background in youth sports coaching, camp direction, or after-school programming where you held direct accountability for motivating young people toward defined objectives.
  • History of exceptional personal performance (academic distinctions, competitive athletics, or leadership positions demanding consistent excellence).
  • Innate narrative skill: you can maintain Pre-K through 8th grade students' focus for an hour without vocal escalation.
  • Success engaging disengaged or reluctant students and converting them into active contributors.
  • Experience supporting students who receive special education services.
