What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Coach, Alpha - $100,000/year USD position at Crossover?
Most educators exhaust themselves battling bureaucracy. They draft lesson plans that go unread. They attend faculty meetings that produce no change. You realized long ago that this isn't the real work. The real work is the student sitting in front of you.
Alpha uses software to handle academics. Adaptive applications guide each learner through subjects at an individualized pace. There are no lectures, no homework assignments, no grading. This structure allows you to focus on work that genuinely transforms lives: facilitating life skill workshops where high schoolers develop public speaking, concentration, and feedback skills, then providing one-on-one coaching to maintain their motivation and achieve learning objectives. You'll spend half your time leading group sessions. The other half you'll spend in direct conversation with a student, analyzing their Coachbot data to pinpoint exactly where they're struggling and why.
Each workshop concludes with a mastery-based assessment. Over 90% of your students should rate your performance highly. Every single one should be making progress in their applications. These aren't hopeful targets; they're minimum standards. Setting high expectations demonstrates your belief in their potential. In the process, you'll develop expertise in designing workshops teenagers are eager to attend, mastering advanced learning software, and forming meaningful relationships with students and their families. Our Brownsville campus is located adjacent to SpaceX. The cutting edge of education meets the cutting edge of space technology, and you'll be the one fulfilling Alpha's fundamental promise: students who love attending school, learn at double the typical rate, and acquire skills that genuinely prepare them for life. If you've been searching for a school that operates the way you believe schools should operate, you've found it.
What You Will Be Doing
Develop a cohort of high school students who love attending school, learn at 2x the standard rate through adaptive software, and demonstrate mastery of practical life skills.
Basic Requirements
Join the team building school around student growth
Alpha reimagines the school day around faster learning, stronger mentorship, and more time for students to build real-world skills.
Roles with real student impact: Alpha hires teachers (guides), operators, admissions experts, school & curriculum leaders, and remote team members.
Education work that pays like it matters: Alpha offers six-figure roles for people ready to help build a radically better school experience.
A culture built for builders: Alpha is fast-moving, ambitious, and student focused. It’s for people who want to improve the system, not maintain it.

What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour life skill workshops with high school students covering subjects such as public speaking, concentration, and giving and receiving feedback, followed by measuring mastery via a structured Test2Pass assessment
- Conducting daily motivation sessions that leverage Coachbot analytics to engage with individual students, determine where they're encountering obstacles in their learning apps, and help them overcome resistance
- Creating personalized motivational approaches with students, including reward systems and incentives that encourage self-directed advancement in their academic applications
- Examining curriculum and lesson plans prior to each session, then adjusting your delivery according to how you assess the group dynamic
- Teaching traditional academic subjects. Software manages math, reading, and all other content areas.
- Managing a school or supervising a team. No budget responsibilities, no hiring duties, no operational meetings; your complete attention is on your student cohort.
- Enforcing discipline through conventional authority. No detentions, no suspensions, no "because I said so." You rely on logic and positive reinforcement to create a respectful, energized learning environment.
