What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Coach, Alpha - $120,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- $120,000 annual W2 salary with weekly pay, plus medical, dental, and vision benefits starting day one
- In-person position at an Alpha campus located in Malibu, CA; San Francisco, CA; Santa Barbara, CA; Boston, MA; New York City, NY; or Miami Beach, FL (we provide relocation support).
Every young person holds untapped potential beyond what they currently believe. When students face difficulty, most adults reduce expectations. Your approach is the reverse. You understand that genuine confidence doesn't stem from empty encouragement—it emerges when someone achieves what they previously deemed impossible. If you have ever pushed a student, athlete, participant, or mentee to persist when they wanted to give up, this work will resonate with you.
Alpha has redesigned education around one core principle: AI excels at academic delivery, while exceptional people excel at transformation. Students advance through required academics via adaptive AI-driven learning platforms. Your mission is cultivating what technology cannot—discipline, grit, communication, responsibility, concentration, and the conviction that challenging pursuits hold value. Your days will not be consumed by lesson delivery or paper grading. Instead, you will coach students through obstacles, acknowledge meaningful growth, and guide them toward accomplishments they once considered out of reach.
Approximately 60% of your time involves facilitating dynamic, one-hour life skills sessions covering subjects such as public speaking, concentration, leadership, and feedback exchange. Roughly 30% is dedicated to individual or small-group coaching, leveraging Coachbot analytics to pinpoint students requiring support, accountability, or adjusted methods. The final 10% centers on data review, strategy refinement, and preparation to strengthen the upcoming week. You will begin with established workshop structures, then enhance and broaden them as you uncover more effective ways to motivate students.
Performance is measured objectively. A minimum of 90% of your students must regularly achieve their weekly academic targets, exhibit mastery of Alpha's life skills via Test2Pass assessments, and provide ratings of at least 4 out of 5 for their experience with you. Sustain this benchmark and you will access a defined advancement track to Lead Guide, where you coach fellow Guides, and ultimately Campus Lead, where you influence the entire school's culture and outcomes.
This position is not suited for individuals seeking to lecture, adhere to rigid curricula, or merely occupy students. It serves coaches, mentors, youth coordinators, performers, tutors, and educators who define success by student transformation. Every finalist completes a full-day coaching session with actual Alpha students prior to receiving an offer. If that prospect excites you more than another standard interview, we are eager to connect.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating energetic, one-hour life skills sessions for K-8 students that build communication, grit, concentration, leadership, and other enduring capabilities while continuously enhancing the session quality.
- Providing individual and small-group coaching informed by Coachbot analytics, customized accountability measures, and Alpha's motivational frameworks to guide every student toward ambitious weekly targets.
- Evaluating life skill proficiency via Test2Pass and delivering focused coaching until each student exhibits true competence, not merely attendance.
- Adjusting your coaching approach for elementary through middle school age ranges, recognizing when a kindergartner requires activity and positive reinforcement versus when an eighth grader needs straightforward accountability.
- Reviewing weekly student performance metrics to detect trends, eliminate barriers, and consistently elevate results across your entire group.
- Conducting traditional classroom teaching. AI manages academic instruction, freeing you to concentrate on student development.
- Evaluating assignments, drafting lesson plans, or preparing students for standardized examinations.
- Supervising students as they quietly work on devices. Each day is energetic, participatory, and coaching-focused.
- Seeking permission before assisting a student in difficulty. You possess the authority to respond immediately and take necessary action.
- Handling parent correspondence or administrative documentation. Campus Leads manage family relationships, allowing you to prioritize students.
Develop a cohort of students who reliably reach ambitious academic objectives, gain proficiency in essential life skills, and cultivate the confidence, resilience, and accountability to thrive well beyond their time at Alpha.
