What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Coach, Alpha - $100,000/year USD position at Crossover?
Many educators waste their efforts battling the system. They craft lesson plans no one will read. They endure faculty meetings that produce no change. You recognized long ago that this isn't the real work. The real work is the student sitting in front of you.
At Alpha, academic content is delivered through software. Adaptive applications guide each student through subject material at an individualized pace. There are no lectures, no homework assignments, no grading. This structure allows you to focus on the work that genuinely transforms lives: facilitating life skill workshops where high schoolers develop public speaking ability, concentration, and the capacity to give and receive feedback, then providing one-on-one coaching to keep them motivated and progressing toward their learning objectives. You'll spend half your day facilitating a group. The other half will be spent in individual sessions, using Coachbot data to pinpoint exactly where each student is struggling and why.
After every workshop, your students will complete a mastery-based assessment. 90% or more should give you high ratings. 100% should be making progress in their applications. These aren't stretch goals; they're the standard. Setting high expectations for students demonstrates your belief in their potential. In the process, you'll develop expertise in creating workshops that teenagers eagerly attend, mastering advanced learning software, and forming meaningful relationships with students and their families. Our Brownsville campus is located adjacent to SpaceX. The cutting edge of education meets the cutting edge of space exploration, and you'll be the one fulfilling Alpha's central commitment: students who enjoy school, learn at twice the normal rate, and acquire skills with real-world value. If you've been searching for a school that operates the way you believe schools should operate, you've found it.
