What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Coach, Alpha - $100,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- On-site position in Brownsville, TX (relocation support provided)
- $100,000 annual compensation, distributed weekly, with health benefits included
Alpha's model assigns academic instruction to software. Adaptive applications guide each learner through coursework at an individualized pace. No traditional lectures, no assigned homework, no tests to grade. This structure liberates you to focus on what genuinely transforms lives: facilitating life skills workshops where teens develop public speaking ability, concentration techniques, and feedback literacy, then providing personalized coaching to maintain their drive and achieve learning milestones. You'll spend half your time leading group sessions. The other half involves one-on-one conversations with students, analyzing their Coachbot metrics to pinpoint obstacles and root causes.
After every workshop, students complete a mastery-based evaluation. You should earn strong approval from 90% of participants. Every student should be making measurable progress in their learning applications. These aren't stretch targets—they define the standard. Maintaining rigorous expectations demonstrates your confidence in their potential. Through this process, you'll develop expertise in creating workshops that captivate teenage audiences, leveraging advanced educational technology, and forming meaningful relationships with students and families. Our Brownsville location neighbors SpaceX. Educational innovation intersects with aerospace ambition, and you'll be the individual fulfilling Alpha's fundamental commitment: learners who are enthusiastic about school, accelerate at double the typical rate, and acquire capabilities with genuine real-world value. If you've been searching for an educational environment aligned with your vision of how schools should function, you've found it.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating hour-long life skills workshops for high school students addressing subjects like public speaking, concentration, and feedback exchange, followed by measuring competency via structured Test2Pass evaluations

- Collaborating with students to create personalized motivational frameworks, including reward systems and incentives that encourage autonomous advancement through academic applications
- Examining curriculum materials and session outlines prior to delivery, then adjusting your approach based on group dynamics and engagement
- Instructing core academic content. Software manages mathematics, literacy, and all other traditional subjects.
- Overseeing school administration or supervising staff. No budget responsibilities, no recruitment duties, no administrative meetings; your complete attention remains on your student group.
