This model depends on expansion being as systematic as the educational product. This role is designed to deliver that. You will manage the complete lifecycle of new school sites—from initial location to operational campus—while constructing the frameworks that make every opening quicker, smoother, and more reliable.

This is not a conventional development position. You are not here simply to oversee projects. You are here to remove obstacles from growth. That requires making decisive calls on site feasibility, engaging directly with permitting and construction challenges, negotiating with partners, and pushing timelines forward with intensity. Simultaneously, you will deconstruct each element of this process into organized, AI-enhanced workflows that minimize manual intervention and sharpen forecast precision over time.

What You Will Be Doing

• Assess critical site decisions by confirming zoning compliance, permitting pathways, cost estimates, and timeline viability through structured and AI-supported analysis
• Manage multiple school construction projects at once, directing construction managers, clearing obstacles, and delivering on-time, on-budget launches
• Create clear, actionable capital project proposals that bring stakeholders into alignment on scope, budget, and delivery approach
• Drive vendor selection, RFP processes, and contract negotiations with an emphasis on velocity, quality, and cost discipline
• Break down expansion workflows into discrete work units and implement AI-powered systems that shorten timelines and increase predictability

• Serving as a passive status monitor awaiting contractor or partner updates
• Focusing on a single phase (e.g., site selection alone or construction alone) without accountability for the complete result
• Depending on manual, improvised processes that restart with each new site
• Passing along issues without directly addressing permitting, design, or construction challenges yourself

VP Of Capital Projects Key Responsibilities

Take full ownership of new school location expansion by delivering operational campuses on reliable schedules while progressively lowering time, cost, and risk through AI-enabled systems.

Basic Requirements

• Demonstrated experience leading at least one real estate development or construction project from site identification through launch with complete ownership
• Experience overseeing multiple simultaneous builds or capital projects with direct accountability for schedules, coordination, and problem resolution
• Deep fluency in zoning, permitting, construction processes, and vendor coordination, with the capability to work directly with general contractors, architects, and regulatory authorities
• Proven ability to make tradeoff decisions balancing cost, schedule, and feasibility with clear, quantifiable results
• Experience refining or organizing complex operational workflows (e.g., permitting processes, design coordination, construction delivery)
• Proven ability to decompose complex workflows into structured, repeatable frameworks and refine them continuously
• Track record of applying tools (AI or other) to minimize manual effort, speed up decision-making, or enhance execution velocity
• Strong ownership orientation with the capability to function in uncertain environments and produce tangible outcomes
• Willingness and capacity to travel up to 60% to active construction sites nationwide and be present during critical development and opening stages
• Currently based in the US and authorized to work without requiring visa sponsorship

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $100 USD/hour, which equates to $200,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
