What are the responsibilities and job description for the Virtual Student Mentor, Unbound Academy - $60,000/year USD position at Crossover?
IMPORTANT NOTE: This position requires you to be physically present in Arizona and operates on a hybrid basis.
We're seeking licensed teachers who want to move beyond classroom management and step into a life-changing mentorship role.
Imagine a teaching role where lesson plans, lectures, and grading take a back seat—and mentoring students to become confident, capable individuals becomes your primary focus.
Unbound Academy has intentionally redesigned what teaching means. This hybrid position supports a tuition-free, fully virtual charter school in Arizona that replaces traditional worksheets with experiential learning and centers on personal development. Students handle core academics on their own using AI-powered platforms in just two focused hours each day. The remainder of their time is dedicated to developing practical skills through guided workshops, coaching sessions, and exploratory activities.
Your role won't involve delivering scripted content or monitoring a virtual classroom. Instead, you'll facilitate dynamic online sessions that push students to think critically, create, collaborate, and develop. You'll guide them through storytelling, entrepreneurship, wellness, and problem-solving while fostering independence, confidence, and executive function skills.
This opportunity is not intended for educators seeking to recreate conventional schooling via Zoom. It's designed for licensed teachers prepared to relocate to Arizona, embrace a hybrid work model, and support students in ways that genuinely prepare them for real life. If classroom busywork no longer fulfills you and you're ready for the most impactful work of your teaching career, continue reading.
