Alpha operates a compressed K-12 learning model: planned down to the minute, faster-paced than traditional schools, and centered on a Guide who remains fully focused on delivering instruction. This model functions only when someone controls the operational foundation — transitions executed on time, materials prepared before lessons begin, student focus maintained before minor distractions escalate into disruptions.

You'll be immersed from day one. No ramp-up phase. You'll be monitoring the classroom, implementing Alpha's approved motivational strategies (positive reinforcement, structured prompts, immediate redirection), and preparing each activity so the Guide can begin instruction without delay. When you perform your role effectively, a student losing focus is brought back on track before the lesson loses momentum. The standards are specific: 95% of transitions completed on schedule, materials ready before every session, students actively engaged throughout.

What You Will Be Doing

• Managing student transitions between activities (approximately 30% of your time): tracking time, prompting students to transition, and applying positive reinforcement to maintain orderly, on-schedule movement
• Organizing classroom materials ahead of each lesson by collecting supplies, arranging them according to the activity plan, and verifying the setup aligns with the Guide's instructions before teaching starts
• Supporting student engagement during structured activities (approximately 40% of your time) by observing participation, spotting disengagement early, and redirecting students using Alpha's approved classroom management methods without disrupting instruction
  
  

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Waiting at the back of the room for issues to arise — this position demands active involvement and real-time judgment throughout each school day
• Creating lessons, drafting activity plans, or owning academic results (those belong to the Guide)
• Developing your own methods for student behavior; Alpha's motivational techniques are prescribed and you will implement them uniformly
• Handling facility maintenance, carpool coordination, or after-hours programming; your focus is classroom operations during school hours
  
  

Teaching Assistant Key Responsibilities

Maintain Alpha's classroom operations so Guides can concentrate entirely on instruction.

Basic Requirements

• Available to work on-site at our Scottsdale campus.
• Commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week, with complete flexibility to set your schedule within school hours (Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM). Full-time position available.
• Prior experience working with children ages 5–14 in a structured environment (school, camp, childcare, tutoring, or coaching).
• Capacity to coordinate people, materials, and activities efficiently and effectively.
• Comfortable with children and skilled at redirecting them using positive encouragement.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship.
  
  

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Direct group management experience with children in active settings (camp counselor, classroom aide, teacher's aide, paraprofessional, youth sports coach, or after-school program staff)
• Background in a mastery-based, competency-based, or structured learning environment (Montessori, project-based learning, or similar)
• Proven ability to maintain group schedules through positive redirection without escalating to adult intervention

This is a part-time (20 hours per week), long-term position.
