What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teaching Aide - Part-Time, Alpha - $30,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- Located on-site: Alpha Schools, Scottsdale (Phoenix), AZ
- Compensation: $30/hr | 15–30 hrs/week | Full-time option at $60,000 annually with benefits
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (flexible hours within school day)
Alpha operates a compressed K-12 model: every minute is structured, the pace exceeds traditional schools, and it centers on a Guide dedicated exclusively to teaching. This system functions only when someone controls the operational foundation — ensuring timely transitions, preparing materials ahead of instruction, and managing student focus before minor distractions escalate.
You step into the thick of it from day one. No gradual ramp-up. You monitor the classroom, implement Alpha's approved motivational strategies (structured prompts, positive reinforcement, immediate redirection), and stage each activity so the Guide begins teaching without delay. When you execute effectively, a student losing focus is re-engaged before the lesson loses momentum. The standards are explicit: 95% on-time transitions, materials prepared in advance of every lesson, sustained student engagement.
As you develop fluency in Alpha's approach, your responsibilities expand. Assistants who command the operational layer advance to greater classroom ownership — and for those who excel, the route to Guide is straightforward. Apply today.
What You Will Be Doing
- Managing student transitions between lessons (approximately 30% of your day): tracking time, cueing students to transition, and reinforcing orderly, punctual movement through positive techniques
- Staging classroom materials ahead of each lesson by collecting supplies, arranging them according to the activity protocol, and verifying setup aligns with the Guide's specifications before teaching starts
- Supporting student engagement during structured sessions (around 40% of your day) by observing participation, spotting early disengagement, and redirecting students with Alpha-approved management methods that preserve instructional flow
- Observing from the rear of the room while waiting for problems — this position demands active involvement and continuous real-time judgment during school hours
- Creating lesson content, drafting activity outlines, or bearing responsibility for educational results (those fall to the Guide)
- Developing personal methods for handling student conduct; Alpha's motivational framework is prescribed and you will implement it uniformly
- Handling building maintenance, carpool coordination, or evening functions; your focus is classroom execution during instructional hours
Maintain Alpha's classroom operations so Guides remain concentrated on delivering instruction.

- Capacity to orchestrate people, resources, and tasks with speed and precision.
