What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Success Coach, Alpha - $100,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- Austin, TX: on-site position with relocation support available
- $100,000 annual salary, W2 status, weekly pay
- Full-time role: daily direct engagement with K-8 students
Alpha is a private school that has fundamentally reimagined instruction. Academic learning happens through adaptive software that allows students to advance at their own pace, often progressing up to 2x faster than conventional students. But technology alone cannot cultivate resilience. It cannot prepare a reserved 7-year-old to deliver a presentation confidently. That responsibility falls to you. Half of your time will be dedicated to facilitating one-hour life skills workshops, where you guide students through public speaking, teamwork, concentration, and constructive feedback exchange. The remaining half involves 1:1 and small-group coaching sessions focused on building authentic student relationships, establishing challenging academic targets, and ensuring daily accountability toward those objectives.
This is not a soft mentorship position. You will be accountable for concrete metrics: every student meeting academic benchmarks, demonstrating mastery in life skills assessments, and providing satisfaction ratings of 90% or higher. The students who show the greatest resistance often require your support most urgently, and transforming a hesitant child into one who actively wants to participate represents both the most challenging and most fulfilling aspect of this work.
Individuals who consistently produce strong student outcomes here advance into positions where they lead and develop other coaches, influencing how an entire campus approaches student development. If creating impact through daily execution appeals to you more than awaiting promotional timelines, your journey begins here. Submit your application now.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops for K-8 student groups, developing public speaking, teamwork, concentration, and feedback skills through organized activities and narrative techniques
- Conducting 1:1 and small-group coaching sessions where you establish objectives with students, monitor their advancement in academic applications, and provide support when performance lags
- Tailoring your approach across a broad age spectrum: your methods for coaching a kindergarten student will differ substantially from how you challenge a 13-year-old
- Delivering Test2Pass assessments to validate that students have genuinely mastered the life skills curriculum you've delivered
- Leveraging student profiles, performance metrics, and coachbot data to maintain precise awareness of each student's status before every interaction
- Delivering academic instruction. Math, reading, and science learning occurs through adaptive technology, not traditional teaching.
- Creating lesson plans from the ground up. Your work will follow an established life skills curriculum and operational playbook.
- Grading assignments, managing report cards, or preparing students for standardized examinations. Mastery verification happens through assessments you conduct, not administrative tasks.
- Working from a desk. This position requires you to be active, present in learning spaces, and directly engaging with students throughout the day.
Lead a cohort of K-8 students to achieve mastery in life skills and reach ambitious academic targets.
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any field
- 3 years of direct experience working with K-8 students
- Demonstrated history of motivating or coaching K-8 students to achieve goals exceeding baseline expectations, including at least one concrete example you can discuss in detail (the objective, your actions, the result)
- Availability to work on-site in Austin, TX (relocation support provided)
- Adaptable to working in a non-traditional educational environment centered on motivation and engagement rather than conventional instruction
- Authorized to work legally in the US without requiring visa sponsorship
- Experience in youth sports coaching, competitive academic programs, or structured youth enrichment environments
- Familiarity with behavioral motivation strategies such as goal-setting frameworks, reward systems, or accountability mechanisms
- Proven success connecting with disengaged or resistant young learners and achieving turnaround results
- Background facilitating group programming for children across different age ranges
