Student Performance Strategist, Alpha - $150,000/year USD

Crossover
Santa Barbara, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 5/25/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/9/2026
You understand that refusing to lower expectations is one of the most respectful things you can do for a young person. Your background includes competitive achievement or accomplishment at a tier most people encounter only in articles: elite-level sports, graduation with honors from a top university, employment at a highly selective organization, or a company you launched yourself. Now imagine channeling that discipline into a K-12 setting where students have never worked with someone like you—someone prepared to push them toward standards they've never imagined meeting. If demanding elite performance from children strikes you as unreasonable, this isn't the right fit.

Alpha deploys AI-driven 1-on-1 instruction so that students complete core academic work in roughly two hours per day. The balance of their schedule is devoted to life skills, self-directed projects, and substantive personal development. At Alpha's most rigorous campuses, young people require more than oversight. They need a credible mentor whose personal track record establishes credibility: someone capable of assessing group dynamics, establishing norms, and guiding students through resistance, distraction, and internal doubt.

You are not hired to teach. AI manages instructional delivery. You are hired to inspire, coach, and enforce the same exacting standards you've applied to yourself. Forty percent of your time involves direct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching that identifies obstacles and establishes stretch goals. Another forty percent is spent facilitating structured life-skills sessions designed for mastery rather than engagement. The final twenty percent is dedicated to leading morning gatherings that set daily expectations and reinforce a culture where average performance is unacceptable.

The trajectory here emphasizes depth over span of control. Initially, you absorb Alpha's operating model and earn students' respect. Within a few months, you become the adult they trust enough to accept difficult feedback. The payoff is not a title change. It's continuity: the same cohort, year over year, maturing with your steady influence. It's seeing a student who avoided eye contact in the fall deliver a poised presentation to a room of adults by spring.

This position remains student-centered. Students are the work itself, not a stepping stone to something else. If you're looking to leave your current role because of mission alignment rather than résumé enhancement, submit your application now.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Conducting 1-on-1 and small-group coaching using Coachbot analytics and student performance data to identify barriers, establish ambitious objectives, and ensure accountability for execution
  • Facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery, drawing on credible examples from your own high-achievement background, and evaluating mastery through Alpha's Test2Pass framework
  • Establishing the daily cultural standard each morning via focused kickoff sessions that communicate high-performance norms across the campus
  • Monitoring student development continuously and refining coaching tactics based on data rather than intuition
  • Cultivating trusted mentor relationships with students and their families by maintaining high expectations, consistency, and formalized motivation strategies

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Delivering lessons, creating curriculum, or evaluating assignments — Alpha's AI-based academic system manages instruction; your responsibility is motivation
  • Addressing a traditional classroom of 30 students (your work centers on high-touch coaching in small settings, not large-group instruction)
  • Supervising other personnel or advancing through an administrative track (this role prioritizes direct student influence, not organizational management)
  • Attending faculty meetings or dealing with institutional bureaucracy (your schedule remains student-focused)
  • Compromising standards to satisfy metrics (if a student achieves 99%, your task is to understand what prevented 100%)
