What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Learning Coach, Alpha - $120,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- $120,000 annual W2 compensation, paid weekly, with medical, dental, and vision benefits effective immediately
- In-person at an Alpha school in Bethesda, MD; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; Greenwich, CT; Malibu, CA; Miami, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Palm Beach, FL; San Francisco, CA; or Santa Barbara, CA (relocation assistance available).
Every child possesses more capability than they recognize. Most educators reduce expectations when difficulty arises. Your approach is the reverse. You understand that genuine confidence doesn't emerge from affirmation. It develops when someone achieves what they previously believed impossible. If you've consistently refused to allow a student, player, camper, or mentee to give up on themselves, this work will resonate with you.
Alpha has redesigned education around a straightforward principle: AI excels at academic delivery, while exceptional people excel at transforming lives. Students complete core academics through adaptive AI-driven learning platforms. Your responsibility is cultivating everything technology cannot—discipline, resilience, communication, ownership, focus, and the conviction that challenging pursuits have value. Your days won't involve delivering lectures or evaluating assignments. They'll be spent coaching students through obstacles, acknowledging genuine progress, and enabling them to accomplish goals they previously considered unreachable.
Approximately 60% of your time involves facilitating dynamic, one-hour life skills workshops addressing topics such as public speaking, focus, leadership, and feedback exchange. Roughly 30% is dedicated to coaching students individually or in small groups, leveraging Coachbot analytics to determine who requires encouragement, accountability, or adjusted methods. The final 10% consists of data review, refining coaching approaches, and positioning students for improved performance in the coming week. You'll begin with established workshop structures, then enhance and expand them as you identify more effective ways to motivate students.
Performance metrics are measurable. A minimum of 90% of your students should reliably meet weekly academic targets, demonstrate proficiency in Alpha's life skills via Test2Pass evaluations, and provide experience ratings of at least 4 out of 5. Maintain this standard consistently and you'll access a defined progression to Lead Guide, mentoring other Guides, and ultimately Campus Lead, where you'll influence the culture and outcomes of an entire school.
This position isn't suited for those seeking to lecture, adhere to prescribed curriculum, or merely occupy students. It's designed for coaches, mentors, youth leaders, performers, tutors, and educators who define success by student transformation. Every finalist completes a full-day coaching session with actual Alpha students before an offer is extended. If that prospect appeals more than another interview, we want to connect with you.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating dynamic, one-hour life skills workshops for K-8 students, building communication, resilience, focus, leadership, and other transferable skills while continuously refining workshop delivery.
- Providing individualized and small-group coaching using Coachbot analytics, customized accountability, and Alpha's motivational frameworks to support every student in reaching ambitious weekly objectives.
- Evaluating life skill proficiency through Test2Pass and delivering focused coaching until every student exhibits authentic competence, not merely attendance.
- Adjusting your coaching approach across elementary and middle school age groups, recognizing when a kindergartner requires movement and positive reinforcement and when an eighth grader needs clear accountability.
- Reviewing weekly student performance metrics to detect patterns, eliminate barriers, and consistently enhance outcomes for your complete cohort.
- Conducting traditional classroom lessons. AI manages academic instruction so you can concentrate on student development.
- Evaluating homework, developing lesson plans, or preparing students for standardized assessments.
- Supervising students while they work quietly on computers. Every day is active, interactive, and coaching-focused.
- Seeking permission before assisting a struggling student. You possess the autonomy to respond immediately and take necessary action.
- Handling parent communication or administrative documentation. Campus Leads manage parent relationships so you can remain focused on students.
Develop a cohort of students who reliably accomplish ambitious academic objectives, master critical life skills, and cultivate the confidence, resilience, and ownership required to thrive long beyond their time at Alpha.

- Bachelor's degree in any field
