What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coach, Alpha - $100,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- $100,000 annual W2 compensation, distributed weekly; full health, dental, and vision coverage begins day one
- On-site role at an Alpha K-8 school in Scottsdale (Phoenix), AZ; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Austin, TX; Brownsville, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston (Central, South, or The Woodlands), TX; Park City, UT (Salt Lake City metro) – relocation assistance available
The most meaningful way to support a student who reaches 99% of their target is to refuse to accept it as complete. If that expectation feels uncomfortable, this role is not for you. If it energizes you—because maintaining high standards is how you demonstrate your belief in a student's potential—continue reading.
Alpha students complete their academic work through AI-driven applications. No traditional lessons. No textbooks. Half of your day is spent facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops covering public speaking, focus, and constructive feedback. The remaining half involves sitting with students individually or in small groups, analyzing their progress via Coachbot analytics, and driving each one toward 100% completion of their weekly app objectives. You will not follow a script—workshops provide a foundation, but top performers in this role customize them and create new content when needed.
A successful quarter means every student in your cohort completes their weekly app goals, passes the Test2Pass for every life-skills workshop, and 90% report that they love you. Falling short on any of these three is falling short of the role. In your first year, you'll master the system; once you prove you can uphold the standard, you may advance to Lead Guide, where you mentor newer Coaches while continuing to work directly with students.
If you prefer traditional teaching methods, expect a pre-built curriculum, or see warmth and rigor as opposing forces, this position will not suit you. If you've coached youth sports, led camp programs, tutored a student who wanted to quit but didn't let them, or performed in front of a room of elementary schoolers, the final step before receiving an offer is spending a full day on campus coaching actual Alpha students. If that prospect excites you most, apply today.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 cohorts on subjects like public speaking, focus, feedback, and other lasting competencies, tailoring the framework and creating new sessions when you identify a need
- Conducting daily individual and small-group motivation sessions that drive every student to 100% completion of their weekly app objectives, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha's reward structures (school currency, leaderboards), and your personal connection with each student to overcome resistance
- Delivering the Test2Pass (Alpha's mastery-based evaluation) for each life skill, and coaching students who fall short until they achieve mastery
- Adjusting your approach across a broad age spectrum, from kindergarteners who require high energy and physical activity to 8th graders who need candid conversation and accountability
- Serving as the adult who maintains expectations and the adult students trust; warmth creates the foundation to challenge, and challenging demonstrates your confidence in their ability
- Delivering instruction at a whiteboard; academic content is housed in the apps, not delivered by you
- Building curriculum from the ground up; you animate an established framework with energy and narrative
- Passively monitoring students on devices; motivation in this role is active, individualized, and persistent
- Reducing a weekly target to help a student meet it; when a student falls behind, the solution is supporting the student, not adjusting the goal
- Evaluating homework, administering standardized test preparation, or handling parent outreach; Campus Leads manage family communication, and the other tasks do not exist in this model
Guarantee that every student in your K-8 cohort completes their weekly learning objectives, achieves mastery in each life skill, and finishes the year reporting they loved you.
