Traditional elementary schools reduce expectations when students fall behind. You do the opposite. You know a six-year-old can accomplish far more than conventional classrooms demand, and you have used data to demonstrate this repeatedly.

Alpha operates on a two-hour learning model. Adaptive software handles academic instruction each morning, freeing your schedule for the work that truly transforms a child's trajectory: coaching, motivation, life skills, and accountability. You directly oversee a cohort of K-3 students and coach the Guides (Alpha's name for the adults who mentor and inspire children) who drive their daily outcomes. You remain engaged on the floor every day, not supervising from behind a closed door.

A typical day alternates among three activities. You review performance metrics and Coachbot analytics to identify which students and Guides need intervention. You conduct coaching sessions that conclude with clear action steps rather than general encouragement. And you lead workshops for groups of five- to nine-year-olds on topics like public speaking, focus, or how to give and receive feedback.

When you identify effective methods, you document them. The playbooks you create set the standard for every other Guide, expanding your influence from a single cohort to an entire level. Demonstrating your ability to replicate that quality is the pathway to broader leadership roles here.

What You Will Be Doing

• Using performance data, classroom observation, and direct feedback to coach Guides and students, then ensuring both meet measurable objectives
• Leading one-hour live workshops for K-3 students on life skills including public speaking, focus, collaboration, resilience, accountability, and feedback exchange
• Conducting individual and small-group motivation sessions that link each child's personal goals and interests to tangible academic achievement
• Creating and refining playbooks that convert your most effective practices into systems other Guides can implement reliably
• Training Guides on these playbooks and demonstrating exemplary facilitation so standards remain consistent as the team expands
  
  

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Teaching academic content or lecturing from the front; adaptive apps handle instruction while you coach the people
• Reducing expectations when students encounter difficulty
• Managing from a distance like instructional coaches and principals typically do; you remain embedded daily with your cohort
• Overseeing the entire campus budget, operations, and parent communications; a Campus Lead handles those responsibilities so you can concentrate on student and Guide performance
• Advocating for traditional teaching approaches or adhering to a standard K-12 curriculum
  
  

Performance Coach Key Responsibilities

Basic Requirements

• Willing to work in person at an Alpha campus in Austin, TX or Scottsdale (Phoenix), AZ; relocation support is provided
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, Organizational Leadership, Child Development, or a related field
• At least 5 years working with elementary-aged children (roughly ages 5 to 9)
• Experience leading a team of 5 or more people, including authority to hire and to remove people based on performance outcomes
• Experience building, launching, or significantly growing a program, team, school, or initiative from the ground up, not inheriting an existing one
• Comfortable working in a school that rejects traditional teaching methods
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
  
  

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Master's degree in a related field
• Demonstrated success using metrics, dashboards, or analytics to identify issues and produce measurable improvement
• Experience coaching or managing other adults toward measurable outcomes, not simply performing the work yourself
• Background in youth development, camp leadership, competitive coaching, tutoring, or enrichment programs where motivation was essential
• Confidence and ability facilitating or public speaking before groups of young children

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $75 USD/hour, which equates to $150,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
