Crossover
Houston, TX Full Time
POSTED ON 7/21/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/11/2026
  • On-site in Houston, TX — campuses in Central Houston, South Houston, or The Woodlands (relocation assistance available)
  • $100,000 annual salary, distributed weekly. Health, dental, and vision coverage begins on day one

The kindest thing you can do for a student who reaches 99% of their target is to refuse to accept it as complete. If that principle unsettles you, this position is not the right fit. If it energizes you because you understand that maintaining high standards is how you demonstrate belief in a student's potential, read on.

Alpha is not a conventional school. Students complete a full academic day in roughly two hours using adaptive technology. No traditional instruction. No printed textbooks. Your role centers on what technology cannot replicate: guiding Pre-K through 8th grade students in life skills such as public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback. You will spend half your time facilitating hands-on workshops with structured guides and narrative techniques. The remaining half involves meeting with students individually or in small groups, analyzing their adaptive learning progress through Coachbot analytics, and ensuring they achieve 100% of their weekly objectives. Mastery is verified through Test2Pass evaluations, not effort-based grading.

During your first year, you will manage a student cohort and internalize Alpha's framework: life skill sessions, motivational coaching, and mastery-driven evaluation. Once you demonstrate the ability to hold all students accountable to 100% goal completion while maintaining satisfaction ratings above 90%, advancement to Lead Guide becomes possible—coaching fellow Guides while remaining active with students. High performers in this role do not simply impact individual students; they influence campus-wide culture and operations.

If you have experience coaching, counseling, or mentoring young people and have wished you could eliminate traditional teaching to concentrate on their personal development, this opportunity is designed for you.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life skill sessions for Pre-K–8 students, covering public speaking, focus, teamwork, and constructive feedback (interactive and project-oriented)
  • Conducting daily individual and small-group motivational check-ins where you assess each student's adaptive learning progress (via Coachbot analytics), establish targets, and drive them toward 100% weekly completion
  • Overseeing and scoring Test2Pass evaluations to validate genuine mastery of life skills, not mere attendance
  • Adjusting your coaching approach across a broad developmental spectrum, from Pre-K learners requiring dynamic, movement-based engagement to 8th graders needing candid accountability
  • Cultivating authentic connections with every student so they trust you to guide them through obstacles, distractions, and self-limiting beliefs

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Teaching traditional academic content through lectures (students master core subjects via adaptive applications, independent of your instruction)
  • Creating original lesson plans or curriculum materials (Alpha supplies life skills frameworks; your role is to execute them with enthusiasm and narrative skill)
  • Handling parent communications or administrative duties (Campus Leads manage these areas; you concentrate on student outcomes)
  • Assigning or grading homework, or preparing students for standardized exams (these elements do not exist at Alpha)
  • Operating independently without support (you collaborate within a campus team including Lead Guides, Campus Leads, and colleagues who provide ongoing feedback and mutual accountability)

Life Skills Coach Key Responsibilities

Ensure every student in your cohort develops a love for learning, achieves mastery of critical life skills, and completes 100% of their academic objectives through adaptive learning platforms.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • 3 years working directly with Pre-K–8 students (in teaching, coaching, counseling, or youth program management roles)
  • Demonstrated experience coaching or motivating Pre-K–8 students toward academic, behavioral, or extracurricular objectives, with at least one concrete example you can articulate (including the objective, your interventions, and measurable results)
  • Regular use of generative AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude)
  • Availability to work on-site at Alpha's Central Houston, South Houston, or The Woodlands campus (relocation assistance provided)
  • Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background in youth sports coaching, camp coordination, or after-school programming where you held direct accountability for student goal attainment
  • History of exceptional personal achievement (academic distinctions, competitive sports, or leadership positions demanding consistent high performance)
  • Innate storytelling capability: you can engage a group of 12-year-olds for an hour without needing to elevate your voice
  • Success re-engaging unmotivated or reluctant students and transforming them into committed learners
