What are the responsibilities and job description for the Startup Coach, Alpha - $150,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- Located on-site in Austin, TX (relocation assistance available)
- Annual salary of $150,000, distributed weekly. Health benefits begin day one.
You will work with high school students who are building genuine companies with $1M growth potential. These are not academic exercises or mock scenarios. Approximately 60-65% of your time will be dedicated to one-on-one coaching: pinpointing where each founder encounters obstacles, determining the most impactful next step, and maintaining accountability to a defined action plan. The remaining 35-40% will be divided between overseeing academic performance and facilitating workshops designed to equip students with practical skills, not simply theoretical knowledge.
This position is not conventional teaching. You are accountable for comprehensive student outcomes: venture advancement, academic performance, and personal development simultaneously. Your coaching will be informed by dashboards, business progress reports, and academic metrics—not guesswork. When a student's grades begin to decline, you step in proactively. When a venture loses momentum, you identify the actual obstacle, not the convenient explanation.
You begin by understanding each student's business, recognizing their capabilities, and identifying where they struggle. Within several months, you become the advisor whose challenge they respect, because you have firsthand operational experience. The outcome is witnessing a 16-year-old arrive with a concept and depart with an operational business, the self-discipline to sustain it, and academic achievement that preserves all future opportunities.
If you have been seeking a position where your business background directly influences emerging founders, submit your application now. If you require a standardized syllabus, a conventional classroom environment, or a role where effort alone is sufficient, this is not the right fit.
What You Will Be Doing
- Providing one-on-one coaching to student founders on strategy, execution, and scaling—consuming approximately two-thirds of your weekly hours
- Analyzing student dashboards, venture updates, and academic metrics to assess progress and identify priority actions
- Tracking academic standing and addressing issues proactively when concentration or organizational skills weaken
- Designing and delivering workshops that produce tangible, applied-learning outcomes
- Facilitating stand-ups, debriefs, and group sessions that enforce accountability to individual commitments
- Conducting traditional lectures or adhering to a fixed curriculum (you enable hands-on learning, not conventional classroom teaching)
- Offering broad mentorship or inspirational guidance without concrete action commitments
- Handling student administrative tasks—calendar coordination, documentation, or registration processes
- Attending faculty meetings or navigating institutional bureaucracy (your focus remains on direct student engagement)
Guide student founders toward ventures with $1M potential while maintaining their academic progress.
