What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Instructional Coach, Alpha - $200,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- On-site in Piedmont, CA | Bethesda, MD | Chicago, IL
- $200,000 annual salary, paid weekly. Full health, dental, and vision benefits from day one
- Relocation assistance provided
At Alpha, students don't passively absorb lectures. They move rapidly through adaptive applications, achieve mastery at double the speed of conventional classrooms, and develop practical life skills throughout the process. Your objective is to ensure three commitments are met for every child in your cohort: they enjoy coming to school, they learn twice as fast, and they gain capabilities no traditional textbook provides. You will also develop the Guides who deliver these same outcomes across your campus.
You begin each morning by examining data. Analytics reveal which students are progressing as expected and which require additional support. By mid-morning you're facilitating a live workshop, guiding K-8 students through public speaking or concentration exercises using Alpha's structured approach. After lunch you observe a Guide's session, then provide them with three concrete actions to refine their execution. On some days you serve as the energy source in a motivation session, converting leaderboard rankings into momentum. You maintain direct involvement with your own student cohort while simultaneously developing Guides who can meet your benchmark and as they grow, your influence scales from a single cohort to an entire campus.
You will witness reserved children present with confidence to adults. You will see a student who previously "despised school" request to remain after hours. And you will understand that the standard you maintained is precisely what enabled their progress because upholding expectations is how you demonstrate belief in someone's capacity to meet them.
If you have exceeded benchmarks, transformed underperformers into high achievers, and are prepared to do the same for children: submit your application now.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour live workshops with K-8 students focused on life skills such as public speaking, concentration, and feedback exchange, using Alpha's established playbook
- Developing Guides through direct observation, precise feedback, and practical training so they execute workshops with equivalent energy and accuracy
- Conducting daily motivation sessions designed to propel 100% of students toward their weekly learning targets using developmentally appropriate incentives including school currency and leaderboards
- Analyzing Coachbot analytics and student data to determine which students require intervention, then personally providing that support
- Directly mentoring your own small student cohort, demonstrating the coaching and motivation approaches you require from all Guides
- Creating lesson plans or developing curriculum. Students engage with adaptive applications; your role is to elevate the people who support them.
- Delivering lectures to a classroom. You are 80% performer, 20% content expert; if you prefer standing at a whiteboard, this role is not for you.
- Allowing exceptions when a student is "almost there." 100% mastery is the standard, and compromising it is not compassion.
- Working from an office reviewing documents. The majority of your day involves direct interaction with students and Guides.
Fulfill Alpha's 3 Promises: every student enjoys school, learns at 2x speed, and achieves mastery of life skills, throughout your cohort and those managed by your Guides.
