The best way to help a struggling six-year-old is to guide them toward solving it themselves—not to solve it for them. You teach them how to become unstuck. If this approach doesn't resonate with you, this position won't be the right fit.

Alpha operates differently from conventional schools. Academic learning happens through adaptive software tailored to each student's pace. There are no lectures, no worksheets, no standardized pacing applied to everyone. Your role is to ensure a small group of K-2 learners looks forward to arriving each day, reaches their weekly learning targets, and develops life skills many adults never acquire.

You'll facilitate practical workshops covering public speaking, focus, and feedback skills with children aged five, six, and seven. You'll guide students as they work through learning applications—not by providing answers, but by helping them cultivate problem-solving habits that enable independent progress. Success means 100% of your students meet their weekly objectives and 90% rate you as someone they enjoy working with.

This role isn't about supervising children on devices. It's high-accountability coaching with tracked student progress, measurable session outcomes, and impact reflected in data rather than subjective impressions. What You Will Be Doing

• Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops covering subjects such as public speaking, focus, and giving/receiving feedback for a small K-2 student cohort
• Guiding students through adaptive learning applications by teaching them strategies to overcome obstacles independently rather than supplying answers
• Conducting motivation sessions using Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, goal-setting) to ensure 100% of students reach weekly learning goals
• Administering and facilitating mastery-based assessments (Test2Pass) to verify students have genuinely mastered each skill
• Examining curriculum and lesson plans daily, then adapting your approach based on individual student profiles, interests, and performance data
  
  

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Presenting lectures or delivering academic instruction to a classroom (students complete academics through apps; your focus is life skills coaching and motivation)
• Creating original lesson plans or building curriculum (Alpha supplies curriculum and playbooks; you provide execution and enthusiasm)
• Compromising standards when students face difficulties (Alpha's approach requires every student to achieve mastery; accepting 90% performance isn't acceptable)
• Handling parent correspondence or managing school operations (these fall under the Campus Lead's responsibilities)
  
  

Educator Key Responsibilities

Guide a small group of K-2 students to develop life skills and achieve their academic targets each week.

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in any field
• At least 3 years of experience working with children ages 4 to 8 in education, afterschool programs, coaching, or similar settings
• Experience leading structured activities for groups of young children that combine clear expectations with high engagement
• Willingness to work on-site at an Alpha campus in Phoenix, Arizona; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Park City (Salt Lake City), Utah; Austin, Texas; Fort Worth, Texas; or Houston, Texas
• Able to attend a paid training program at our Austin, Texas campus
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  
  

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Background in youth athletics coaching, theater, or camp leadership where you had to hold kids' attention AND hold them to standards
• Experience using data or analytics to track student or participant progress and adjust your approach
• Track record of receiving feedback and visibly changing how you work based on it
• Familiarity with growth mindset coaching techniques or positive behavioral frameworks for young children

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $50 USD/hour, which equates to $100,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
