What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education Coach, Alpha - $120,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- $120,000 annual W2 salary with weekly pay; full health, dental, and vision coverage starting day one
- On-campus position at an Alpha K-8 school in Beverly Hills, CA; La Jolla (San Diego), CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; South Bay (LA), CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Chicago, IL; Raleigh, NC; Portland, OR (relocation assistance available)
The most meaningful support you can offer a student who reaches 99% of their target is to insist it is not complete. If that expectation feels uncomfortable, this role is not a fit. If it energizes you because maintaining high standards signals your belief in a student's capability, continue reading.
At Alpha, academic learning happens through AI-driven applications. No traditional lectures. No printed textbooks. Approximately 60% of your time is spent facilitating one-hour life-skills sessions covering public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback exchange. Around 30% involves individual or small-group student meetings where you analyze Coachbot performance data and drive each learner toward their weekly application targets. The remaining 10% is dedicated to data analysis that informs the following week's coaching strategy. You will not follow rigid scripts; sessions provide a framework, and top performers customize them and create new content when needed.
Success in a semester means at least 90% of your cohort meets weekly application goals, demonstrates quantifiable life-skill improvement on Test2Pass, and assigns you a rating of 4/5 or higher. Falling short on any metric means the role is not being fulfilled. As you demonstrate your ability to maintain these standards, advancement opportunities emerge: Lead Guide — mentoring new Guides while managing your own cohort — and eventually Campus Lead, overseeing an entire school and managing parent engagement.
If you prefer conventional classroom teaching, expect ready-made curriculum, or view compassion and rigor as opposing forces, this position is not suitable. If your background includes athletic coaching, camp counseling, tutoring students through difficult challenges, or performing for groups of adolescents, the final hiring stage involves spending a full day on campus coaching actual Alpha students. If that prospect excites you most, submit your application now.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour life-skills sessions for K-8 groups covering public speaking, concentration, feedback skills, and other foundational competencies, customizing the framework and creating new content when gaps are identified
- Conducting daily individual and small-group motivation meetings that drive every student toward weekly application targets, leveraging Coachbot data, Alpha's reward structures (campus currency, performance rankings), and personal rapport to overcome resistance
- Delivering Test2Pass (Alpha's competency-based evaluation) for each life skill, and continuing coaching support for students until mastery is achieved
- Adjusting your approach across diverse age groups, from kindergarteners requiring energetic and kinesthetic engagement to 8th graders needing direct communication and personal accountability
- Analyzing weekly cohort metrics in Coachbot, pinpointing students falling behind targets, and modifying your coaching methods for the next week based on data insights
- Delivering whiteboard instruction; academic content is handled by the applications, not by you
- Creating an entire program from scratch; you begin with an established framework and personalize it through your style and narrative skills
- Passively monitoring students at workstations; motivation in this context is direct, individualized, and persistent
- Working through administrative channels to secure support for at-risk students; if a student requires additional coaching, you decide and implement immediately
- Evaluating assignments, conducting test preparation, or handling parent correspondence; Campus Leads manage parent interactions, and the other tasks do not exist in this model
Guarantee that every student in your K-8 cohort achieves their weekly learning targets, demonstrates mastery of each life skill, and concludes the year expressing strong appreciation for your guidance.
