What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education Coach, Alpha - $120,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- $120,000 annual W2 salary with weekly pay; comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage starting day one
- On-campus position at an Alpha K-8 school in Beverly Hills, CA; La Jolla (San Diego), CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; South Bay (LA), CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Chicago, IL; Raleigh, NC; Portland, OR (relocation assistance available)
The most impactful thing you can do for a student who reaches 99% of their target is to refuse to accept it as complete. If that approach feels uncomfortable, this role is not for you. If it resonates because you know that maintaining high expectations is how you demonstrate belief in a student's potential, continue reading.
At Alpha, academic learning happens through AI-powered applications. No classroom lectures. No traditional textbooks. Approximately 60% of your time will be spent facilitating one-hour workshops focused on life skills such as public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback practices. Around 30% of your time involves meeting with students individually or in small groups, analyzing their progress via Coachbot analytics, and driving each student toward their weekly application goals. The remaining 10% is dedicated to data analysis that informs the following week's coaching strategy. You will not follow a rigid script; workshops serve as frameworks, and the most effective coaches customize them and create new ones when necessary.
A successful semester means at least 90% of students in your cohort achieve their weekly app targets, demonstrate quantifiable improvements in life skills on Test2Pass, and provide a rating of 4/5 or higher for their experience with you. Falling short on any of these three metrics means the role is not being fulfilled. As you demonstrate your ability to maintain standards, opportunities open to advance to Lead Guide — mentoring newer Guides while continuing to manage a cohort — and eventually to Campus Lead, overseeing an entire school and managing parent relationships.
If you are drawn to traditional teaching methods, prefer ready-made curriculum, or view warmth and rigorous standards as incompatible, this position will not be a good fit. If your background includes athletic coaching, camp counseling, tutoring where you refused to let students give up, or performing in front of middle schoolers, the final stage before receiving an offer is spending a full day on campus coaching actual Alpha students. If that prospect excites you most, submit your application today.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 cohorts covering public speaking, focus, feedback exchange, and other enduring competencies, customizing the existing framework and creating new sessions when you identify a need
- Conducting daily individual and small-group motivation sessions designed to drive every student toward their weekly app targets, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha's incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and your personal connection with each student to overcome resistance
- Overseeing the Test2Pass (Alpha's mastery-based evaluation) for each life skill, and continuing to coach students who do not achieve passing scores until they succeed
- Modifying your coaching approach across a broad age spectrum, from kindergarteners requiring high energy and physical activity to 8th graders needing direct conversation and accountability
- Analyzing weekly cohort performance data in Coachbot, pinpointing students falling behind, and modifying your coaching tactics for the subsequent week based on data insights
- Delivering lessons at a whiteboard; academic content is embedded in the applications, not delivered by you
- Creating an entire curriculum from scratch; you begin with an established playbook and customize it with your own energy and narrative style
- Simply monitoring children at computers; motivation in this context is active, individualized, and persistent
- Working through bureaucratic approval processes to secure resources for struggling students; if a student requires additional coaching time, you decide and implement immediately
- Evaluating homework, conducting standardized test preparation, or handling parent communications; Campus Leads manage parent-facing responsibilities, and the other tasks do not exist in this model
Ensure that every student in your K-8 cohort achieves their weekly learning targets, masters each life skill, and concludes the year reporting that they loved you.

- Bachelor's degree in any discipline
