The most transformative act in education may be to abandon traditional teaching. Not abandon investment in students; abandon lecturing. Abandon positioning yourself at the front of the classroom dispensing information that adaptive algorithms deliver with greater speed, precision, and personalization than any instructor can match. If that statement triggers resistance, this role is not for you. If it sparks interest, continue reading.

Alpha School operates on a model where academic content is delivered through AI-driven applications, freeing you to focus on what software cannot replicate: public speaking skills, sustained attention, emotional resilience, constructive peer feedback. You do not present lessons. You facilitate workshops. You coach. You drive a small K-12 cohort toward challenging weekly targets and maintain those expectations with the same rigor you apply to yourself. Students who rate their Guide most highly are not those with the most lenient Guide. They are those whose Guide respected them enough to maintain high standards.

Your inaugural year centers on skill mastery: internalizing Alpha's motivational framework, cultivating relationships within your cohort, and developing methods to ensure 100% of students meet weekly learning objectives. Once you demonstrate the ability to uphold these standards while earning student trust, you become eligible for Lead Guide, where you mentor other Guides while continuing direct student work. Alpha is expanding to additional campuses, and those who exemplify excellence now will shape how the model scales forward.

If your experience in conventional education left you feeling the system was flawed, or if you have no formal teaching background but have always known you could alter a young person's path, this role transforms that conviction into daily practice.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops for K-12 students covering subjects such as public speaking, sustained focus, and peer feedback — interactive, activity-driven sessions where you engage dynamically rather than lecture
  • Providing daily coaching to a small student cohort, leveraging Coachbot analytics and motivational strategies to ensure continuous progress in their learning applications
  • Administering mastery-based evaluations (Test2Pass) that confirm genuine skill acquisition rather than passive attendance
  • Building individual relationships with students: discovering their passions, identifying what drives each learner, and tailoring your methods to suit them
  • Maintaining performance standards: achieving 100% weekly goal completion among students and securing 90% satisfaction ratings in student surveys

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Instructing traditional academic subjects. Mathematics, literacy, and science content is delivered via adaptive software. You will not use a whiteboard to explain long division.
  • Creating original lesson plans. Alpha supplies life skills curriculum and implementation guides. Your responsibility is execution and engagement, not curriculum design.
  • Evaluating assignments or conducting standardized test preparation. There are no report cards to complete and no state assessment drills.
  • Supervising students passively while they use computers. When students encounter obstacles, you guide them toward self-directed problem-solving. Passive observation contradicts this role.
  • Compromising standards when students resist. The motivational approach depends on consistent high expectations, not flexibility when challenge arises.

Education Coach Key Responsibilities
