At Alpha, academics are delivered through AI-powered applications. No lectures or textbooks. Approximately 60% of your time is spent facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops covering public speaking, focus, and constructive feedback. Around 30% involves sitting with students individually or in small groups, analyzing their progress via Coachbot analytics, and driving each toward their weekly app targets. The remaining 10% is dedicated to data analysis that informs your coaching strategy for the following week. You will not follow a rigid script; workshops serve as a foundation, and top performers customize them and create new content when needed.

A successful semester means at least 90% of your cohort achieves their weekly app goals, demonstrates measurable life-skill improvement on Test2Pass, and rates their experience with you at 4 out of 5 or higher. Falling short on any of these three metrics means the role has not been fulfilled. Once you demonstrate your ability to maintain standards, advancement to Lead Guide becomes possible—mentoring newer Guides while continuing to run a cohort—and eventually to Campus Lead, overseeing an entire school and managing parent engagement.

If you prefer traditional classroom teaching, need a predetermined curriculum, or view warmth and rigor as opposing forces, this position will not suit you. What You Will Be Doing

• Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 cohorts addressing public speaking, focus, feedback exchange, and other foundational skills, customizing the existing playbook and creating new sessions when you identify unmet needs
• Conducting daily individual and small-group motivation sessions to drive every student toward their weekly app targets, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha's incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and your personal connection with each student to overcome resistance
• Administering Test2Pass (Alpha's mastery-based assessment) for each life skill and providing coaching to students until they achieve passing results
• Tailoring your coaching approach across a broad age spectrum, from kindergarteners requiring high energy and physical activity to 8th graders needing direct conversation and accountability
• Analyzing weekly cohort performance data in Coachbot, pinpointing students falling behind, and modifying your coaching tactics for the next week based on data insights
  
  

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Delivering whiteboard lectures; academic content is embedded in the apps, not delivered by you
• Creating an entire curriculum from scratch; you begin with an established playbook and infuse it with your own energy and narrative style
• Passively monitoring students at computers; motivation in this role is active, individualized, and persistent
• Working through bureaucratic processes to secure resources for students in need; if a student requires additional coaching time, you decide and implement the same day
• Grading assignments, conducting standardized test preparation, or handling parent communications; Campus Leads manage parent-facing responsibilities, and the other tasks do not exist in this model
  
  

Education Coach Key Responsibilities

Ensure that every student in your K-8 cohort achieves their weekly learning targets, masters each life skill, and concludes the year with a positive view of their experience with you.

Basic Requirements

• Willing to work on-site at an Alpha campus in Beverly Hills, CA; La Jolla (San Diego), CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; South Bay (LA), CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Miami, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Chicago, IL; Raleigh, NC; Portland, OR; or Seattle, WA (relocation assistance available)
• Bachelor's degree in any field
• Minimum of 3 years of direct experience working with K-8 students (including classroom teaching, coaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or youth program leadership)
• A concrete example you can articulate of motivating a K-8 student toward a challenging goal: the specific goal, your actions, and the result
• Comfort with AI managing instructional content while your focus remains on motivation and life-skills coaching
• Legal authorization to work in the US without requiring visa sponsorship
  
  

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Background in youth sports coaching, debate, camp leadership, drama, or after-school programs where you held direct responsibility for motivating children toward defined objectives
• History of personal high achievement (academic, athletic, or professional) that demonstrates holding others to rigorous standards as a consistent practice rather than an adopted stance
• Storytelling ability and stage presence sufficient to captivate a room of 12-year-olds for an hour without escalating your voice
• Demonstrated success converting disengaged or resistant students into active, engaged participants

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record.
