Alpha School is redefining education where children achieve academic mastery rapidly and dedicate greater time to cultivating essential life skills. For Pre-K learners, this begins with something even more foundational: emotional security, natural curiosity, and the resilience to persevere.
Your objective: guide an on-site NYC Pre-K group that develops a genuine love for school while demonstrating accelerated early-learning outcomes: approximately 2x the progress of conventional preschool programs. You will craft deliberate, sensory-enriched play experiences that integrate developmental objectives, then record progress on a weekly basis and make rapid adjustments tailored to each child.
NYC: Public parks ideal for outdoor instruction, vibrant neighborhoods featuring engaged family communities, exceptional public transportation, and proximity to leading-edge early childhood professional networks.
Cultivate joy. Accelerate development. Submit your application today.
What You Will Be Doing
- Plan and lead 30–60 minute play-centered learning sessions that foster joy, emotional security, and quantifiable developmental progress
- Establish a classroom environment that supports movement and sensory exploration, maintaining high engagement and enabling four-year-olds to learn across diverse modalities
- Conduct real-time observation and documentation: Record same-day, objective observations linked to developmental domains, then refresh each child's milestone tracking weekly
- Leverage data to inform teaching: Review weekly documentation to pinpoint each child's next developmental threshold and design responsive instructional strategies
- Develop individualized, interest-driven activity modifications grounded in each child's unique motivators, integrate one specific developmental target, and reassess outcomes within two weeks
- Support children through frustration moments using composed co-regulation and emotional guidance instead of reactive behavioral management
- Share student progress, daily routines, and developing concerns transparently and proactively with families
- View PreK as custodial care instead of purposeful early education
- Default to scripted worksheets or compliance-focused instruction as your primary teaching method
- Dedicate your day mainly to overseeing academic applications rather than facilitating live, experiential learning
- Apply reactive behavioral management instead of composed co-regulation and emotional guidance
Ensure NYC Pre-K children develop a genuine love for school while exhibiting accelerated early-learning advancement through purposeful play.
Basic Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, OR CDA/Montessori/Reggio credential

- Demonstrated success facilitating play-based learning that drives observable developmental growth
- Proven ability to document developmental milestones objectively and consistently on a weekly cadence using a structured framework or rubric
- Strong relationship-building and emotional attunement: Ability to build trust quickly, read emotional cues accurately, and use individualized motivators to unlock engagement
