What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Strategic Partnerships, Alpha - $200,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- On-site (multiple cities—refer to Requirements)
- W2 Employee
- $200K/yr
You will be the person they reach out to when doubt surfaces, when instinct tells them something needs attention, or when they want to share a milestone they know you will appreciate. You will understand each family deeply enough to sense their needs before they articulate them—and you will possess the judgment and composure to respond with care, discretion, and seamless professionalism. Over time, you will not simply represent their child's school. You will become woven into the way they navigate this season of family life.
That level of trust is not built through systems. It is earned through presence—steady, visible, and unhurried. You will be there at morning arrival and afternoon departure, at evening gatherings that carry weight, and in unscheduled conversations that rarely appear on any agenda. You will shape a community families feel invested in protecting, where connection feels natural and referrals emerge because the experience justifies them.
Alpha is not a conventional school. Students complete their core academics in two hours per day using AI-powered applications, then dedicate the remainder of their time to public speaking, critical thinking, and hands-on projects. No traditional lectures. No filler assignments. Top 1% outcomes nationwide. The families who choose it are investing in something they value deeply—but conviction requires care.
You will sustain that dialogue with every family, through every question, for as long as their child remains enrolled. If the prospect of defending an unconventional approach to discerning skeptics feels exhausting, this position is not the right fit. If it sounds like the most meaningful conversation you could be having, continue reading.
What You Will Be Doing
- Own the connection with every family at the campus—the evolving, deepening bond that ensures parents feel recognized, not merely attended to
- Identify concerns before they escalate, and address them with the discretion and interpersonal skill that preserves confidence
- Maintain visible availability where families gather: morning arrival (7–9am), afternoon departure (2–4pm), evening parent functions, and select weekend engagements
- Create a campus community with authentic depth—traditions, events, and moments that foster a sense of meaningful belonging
- Develop parent champions naturally, delivering experiences so reliably strong that referrals arise as a matter of course
- Sustain the ongoing dialogue about Alpha's AI-driven approach with families weighing screen time considerations, skeptical relatives, and periodic uncertainty—not only during enrollment, but continuously throughout their campus tenure
- Recognize when a family is not aligned and manage that transition with the same care you apply elsewhere—safeguarding the community is integral to supporting it
- Establish the frameworks and routines this position demands in a setting where the blueprint is still emerging
- Overseeing enrollment—that responsibility belongs to the Admissions Director; your role begins once families have joined and deepens continuously
- Operating from behind a desk—your visibility within the community defines the position
- Maintaining standard 9–5 hours—early mornings, late afternoons, and evening programming are integral, not occasional
- Relying on administrative infrastructure, established protocols, or a full support team—you function with significant autonomy and create what is needed
- Approaching family relationships as transactional accounts—this role rewards authentic engagement, not procedural adherence
Serve as the trusted anchor of every family's experience at Alpha. Sustain their confidence through challenging moments, cultivate a community where belonging feels intentional, and establish the environment in which satisfied families become active advocates.
Basic Requirements
- Currently live within commuting range of one of these campuses OR prepared to relocate within 60 days (preference for candidates with established local connections): Denver, CO; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Tampa, FL; Boston, MA; Bethesda, MD; Charlotte, NC; Las Vegas, NV; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Austin, TX; Dallas (Carrollton), TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston (The Woodlands), TX; Park City, UT; Burlington, VT; Kirkland, WA; or Jackson Hole, WY
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- 5 years in a relationship-focused role serving high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth families—private school admissions, luxury hospitality, philanthropy, or any context where discretion, warmth, and interpersonal fluency were as critical as competence
- Proven capacity to maintain relationships through challenging moments with sophisticated families and preserve trust throughout
- Authentic presence and communication style that builds confidence rapidly with affluent, high-expectation families—polished but not rehearsed
- Personal experience with independent, private, or non-traditional education—either professionally or as a parent—that provides credible perspective when families question the model
- Sincere conviction in AI-powered education and the capacity to sustain that belief authentically across years of family engagement, not solely at the point of enrollment
- Willingness to work flexible hours: early mornings (7–9am), late afternoons (2–4pm), evening events 2–3x/month, and occasional weekend activities
Outstanding candidates will possess at least one of the following:
- Established connections within the local affluent community that would provide an immediate, organic presence on campus
- Private school or independent school background with demonstrated family retention and community engagement—beyond enrollment metrics
- Experience managing high-stakes family dynamics where your judgment and discretion were the reason confidence endured
- A talent for designing experiences—events, gatherings, environments—that make people feel part of something worth safeguarding
- Prior startup or early-stage experience where you built systems from the ground up and remained composed amid rapid change
