What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Strategic Partnerships, Alpha - $200,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- On-site (multiple locations - detailed in Requirements)
- W2 Employee
- $200K annual compensation
You will be the person they reach out to in moments of uncertainty, when something doesn't feel right, or when they want to share an experience they know you'll appreciate. You'll understand each family deeply enough to anticipate their needs in advance—and you'll possess the judgment and composure to address what they bring to you with discretion, warmth, and seamless ease. Over time, you won't simply be associated with their child's education. You'll become woven into the fabric of how they navigate this period of their family's journey.
This depth of trust isn't built through systematic processes. It emerges from presence—daily, steady, and unrushed. You'll be present during morning arrival and afternoon departure, at evening gatherings that carry significance, and in private conversations that never appear on any schedule. You'll cultivate a community that families feel invested in protecting, where connection feels natural and recommendations emerge because the experience merits them.
Alpha represents a departure from conventional schooling. Students complete core academic work in two hours daily through AI-driven applications, then dedicate remaining time to public speaking, critical thinking, and practical projects. No traditional lectures. No redundant assignments. Top 1% outcomes nationally. The families who select it are investing in something they value—but that conviction requires ongoing cultivation.
You'll sustain that dialogue with every family, through every question, for the duration of their child's enrollment. If advocating for an unconventional approach to discerning skeptics feels like an obstacle, this position isn't suitable. If it represents the most meaningful conversation you could facilitate, continue reading.
What You Will Be Doing
- Own the evolving relationship with every family on campus—the sustained, deepening connection that ensures parents feel understood, not merely accommodated
- Identify potential concerns before they surface as discussions, and address them with the discretion and interpersonal skill that preserves confidence
- Maintain visible presence where families gather: morning arrival (7–9am), afternoon departure (2–4pm), evening parent gatherings, and select weekend programming
- Develop a campus culture with authentic dimension—gatherings, customs, and interactions that foster a sense of belonging to something families want to safeguard
- Nurture parent champions through natural engagement, delivering experiences of such consistent quality that recommendations arise organically
- Sustain the continuing dialogue about Alpha's AI-powered approach with families managing screen time considerations, skeptical relatives, and periods of uncertainty—not only during enrollment, but across their entire campus journey
- Recognize when a family alignment isn't optimal and address that reality with the same care you bring to all interactions—preserving the community is integral to serving it
- Create the structures and routines this position demands in a context where established protocols are still emerging
- Overseeing enrollment processes—that falls to the Admissions Director; your responsibility starts when families commit and expands thereafter
- Operating from behind a desk—your community presence defines the role
- Maintaining conventional 9–5 schedules—early mornings, late afternoons, and evening programming are inherent to the position, not occasional requirements
- Relying on administrative infrastructure, standardized procedures, or complete staffing—you function with significant autonomy and develop what's necessary
- Approaching family relationships as transactional accounts—this position rewards authentic engagement, not procedural execution
Serve as the central trusted relationship in every family's Alpha experience. Maintain their confidence through challenging moments, cultivate a community where belonging feels substantive, and establish the environment where satisfied families naturally become active advocates.
Basic Requirements
- Currently living within commuting range of one of these campus locations OR prepared to relocate within 60 days (priority given to candidates with established local community ties): Denver, CO; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Tampa, FL; Boston, MA; Bethesda, MD; Charlotte, NC; Las Vegas, NV; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Austin, TX; Dallas (Carrollton), TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston (The Woodlands), TX; Park City, UT; Burlington, VT; Kirkland, WA; or Jackson Hole, WY
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship requirements
- 5 years in a relationship-focused role working with high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth families—private school admissions, premium hospitality, philanthropic organizations, or any setting where discretion, warmth, and social sophistication were equally valued alongside competence
- Proven capacity to maintain relationships through challenging circumstances with sophisticated families and preserve trust throughout
- Authentic presence and communication approach that builds confidence rapidly with affluent, high-expectation families—genuine rather than rehearsed
- Direct familiarity with independent, private, or alternative education—through professional experience or as a parent—that provides credible perspective when families challenge the model
- Authentic conviction in AI-powered education and capacity to sustain that belief genuinely across years of parent relationships, beyond initial enrollment discussions
- Flexibility for variable hours: early mornings (7–9am), late afternoons (2–4pm), evening programming 2–3x/month, and periodic weekend activities
Outstanding candidates will possess at least one of the following:
- Established connections within the local affluent community that would provide immediate, organic credibility on campus
- Private school or independent school background with demonstrated success in family retention and community building—beyond enrollment metrics alone
- Experience managing high-stakes family dynamics where your judgment and discretion were the foundation for sustained trust
- Natural ability to design experiences—events, moments, environments—where participants feel part of something worth protecting
- Prior startup or early-stage organizational experience where you built from the ground up and maintained composure during rapid change
