What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Strategic Partnerships, Alpha - $200,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- On-site (multiple locations)
- W2
- $200K annually
You'll become the individual they reach out to during moments of uncertainty, when instinct signals concern, or when they encounter a milestone they know you'll appreciate. You'll develop sufficient familiarity with each family to foresee their needs ahead of any request—and you'll possess the judgment and composure to address whatever they present with tact, empathy, and effortless competence. Over time, your role will extend beyond their child's education. You'll become woven into the way they remember this period of their family's journey.
That level of confidence isn't established through procedure. It's earned through presence—regular, sustained, and never rushed. You'll maintain visibility during morning arrival and afternoon departure, attend meaningful evening gatherings, and engage in private discussions that rarely appear on any schedule. You'll cultivate a community that families want to safeguard, where inclusion feels organic and word-of-mouth emerges naturally from the quality of the experience.
Alpha operates outside traditional educational frameworks. Students complete core subjects in two hours daily through AI-enabled applications, dedicating remaining time to public speaking, analytical reasoning, and practical projects. No conventional lectures. No redundant assignments. Outcomes in the top 1% nationally. The families selecting this path are investing in a vision they support—but conviction requires ongoing care.
You'll sustain that dialogue with each family, navigating every uncertainty, for the duration of their child's enrollment. If articulating an unconventional approach to discerning skeptics feels overwhelming, this position isn't suitable. If it represents the most compelling dialogue you could facilitate, continue reading.
What You Will Be Doing
- Take ownership of the relationship with each family on campus—the continuous, evolving connection that ensures parents feel recognized, not merely accommodated
- Identify potential issues before they surface as discussions, and address them with the tact and interpersonal skill that preserves confidence
- Maintain consistent visibility where families gather: morning arrival (7–9am), afternoon departure (2–4pm), evening parent gatherings, and select weekend programming
- Develop a campus community with authentic depth—programs, customs, and interactions that foster a sense of belonging to something valuable and protected
- Encourage parent advocacy through natural means, delivering experiences of such consistent quality that referrals emerge as the logical result
- Sustain the ongoing dialogue about Alpha's AI-driven model with families addressing screen time questions, skeptical relatives, and occasional uncertainty—not only during enrollment, but across their entire campus experience
- Recognize when a family isn't aligned with the community and manage that realization with the same consideration you apply everywhere else—safeguarding the community is integral to serving it
- Establish the structures and routines this position demands in a setting where standard operating procedures are still emerging
- Overseeing enrollment processes—that falls under the Admissions Director's responsibility; your work commences once families become part of the community and grows from that point
- Operating from behind a desk—your visibility within the community defines the role
- Maintaining standard 9–5 schedules—early mornings, late afternoons, and evening programming are inherent to the position, not occasional requirements
- Depending on administrative infrastructure, established protocols, or a complete team—you function with significant independence and create what's necessary
- Approaching family relationships as transactional accounts—this role values authentic connection over procedural adherence
Serve as the trusted relationship anchor for every family's Alpha experience. Maintain their confidence during challenging moments, cultivate a community where belonging feels meaningful, and establish conditions where satisfied families naturally become active advocates.
Basic Requirements
- Currently live within commuting range of one of these campuses OR prepared to relocate within 60 days (priority given to candidates with established local community ties): Scottsdale, AZ; Denver, CO; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; Bethesda, MD; Charlotte, NC; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX; Park City, UT; Chantilly, VA; or Kirkland, WA
- Authorized to work legally in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship
- 5 years in a client-facing role working with high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth families—private school admissions, premium hospitality, philanthropic organizations, or any setting where discretion, empathy, and interpersonal sophistication mattered as much as technical competence
- Proven capacity to maintain relationships through challenging situations with sophisticated families while preserving trust
- Authentic presence and communication approach that builds confidence rapidly with affluent, high-expectation families—genuine rather than rehearsed
- Direct familiarity with independent, private, or alternative education—through professional work or as a parent—that provides credible perspective when families challenge the model
- Sincere conviction in AI-powered education and the capacity to sustain that belief authentically across years of parent relationships, not solely during initial enrollment
- Willingness to work flexible hours: early mornings (7–9am), late afternoons (2–4pm), evening gatherings 2–3 times monthly, and occasional weekend events
Outstanding candidates will possess at least one of the following:
- Established connections within the local affluent community that would provide immediate, organic credibility on campus
- Private school or independent school background with demonstrated success in family retention and community building—beyond enrollment metrics alone
- Background managing high-stakes family dynamics where your judgment and confidentiality were the foundation of sustained trust
- Natural ability to design experiences—programs, moments, settings—where participants feel part of something meaningful and worth protecting
- Prior startup or early-stage company experience where you created from the ground up and maintained composure amid rapid change
