Students at Alpha do not passively absorb lectures. They advance through adaptive applications at double the speed of conventional classrooms while simultaneously developing practical life competencies. Your responsibility is to ensure three commitments are fulfilled for every child in your cohort: they develop a genuine enthusiasm for school, they accelerate their learning by a factor of two, and they acquire capabilities that extend beyond traditional academic content. You will also guide and develop the Guides who uphold these same commitments throughout your campus.

All decisions are informed by evidence, and all interactions are conducted in person. Your time will be divided between directly mentoring your own student cohort and coaching the Guides under your leadership—with identical expectations for both: tangible advancement, without compromise. When a Guide's session underperforms, you will not generate documentation; instead, you observe, debrief immediately, and implement corrections that same afternoon.

You will witness reserved students presenting with poise to adults. You will observe a child who once "despised school" requesting to remain after hours. And you will recognize that the high standard you maintained is precisely what enabled their transformation, because upholding rigorous expectations demonstrates your conviction in their potential.

You may be responsible for launching an entirely new campus and cultivating the foundational culture that will characterize the institution. As the campus evolves, your emphasis transitions from operational startup mode to leadership through coaching, cultivating the team that extends Alpha's methodology throughout your region.

What You Will Be Doing

• Facilitating one-hour live life skills and social-emotional learning (SEL) sessions with students in grades K-8 on subjects such as public speaking and concentration, adhering to Alpha's established framework
• Conducting daily motivational sessions designed to propel 100% of students toward their weekly application-based goals through age-appropriate incentive systems including school currency and performance leaderboards
• Developing Guides via direct observation, precise feedback, and practical skill-building to ensure they facilitate sessions with equivalent energy and execution quality
• Analyzing Coachbot data and individual student records to pinpoint students requiring additional support, then providing direct intervention
• Directly mentoring your designated student cohort, demonstrating the coaching and motivational techniques you require from all Guides
  
  

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Creating lesson plans or developing curriculum. Students progress through adaptive applications; your role is to elevate the effectiveness of the people supporting them.
• Delivering traditional classroom lectures. Your role is 80% dynamic engagement, 20% content expertise; if you prefer standing at a whiteboard, this position is not suitable.
• Compromising standards due to external pressure from parents or school administrators. If a student achieves 99%, the response remains "not yet"—and you will receive institutional support to maintain that threshold.
• Spending your time in an office processing administrative documents. The majority of your day involves direct interaction with students and Guides.
• Waiting extended periods for performance evaluations. Outcomes are visible in real time through Coachbot, and adjustments are made immediately.
  
  

Director Of Learning & Development Key Responsibilities

Basic Requirements

• Currently residing in or prepared to relocate to Beverly Hills, CA; Piedmont, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Miami, FL; Boston, MA; Raleigh, NC; New York City, NY; Seattle, WA (relocation assistance provided)
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related discipline (Master's degree preferred; traditional teaching certifications are not required)
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in education, learning and development, coaching, or comparable field
• Demonstrated experience designing and executing educational programs, curricula, or training initiatives
• Proven history of managing a team of 5 or more individuals, including responsibility for recruitment and performance-based termination decisions
• Background in coaching, mentoring, or delivering constructive feedback to enhance engagement and performance outcomes
• Professional experience working with children ages 5–14 in educational or developmental contexts
• Competency in leveraging data and performance metrics to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement
• Legal authorization to work in the United States
  
  

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Master's degree in Education, Psychology, or Business
• Experience as an athletic coach, camp director, or youth program coordinator where you directly motivated children to achieve quantifiable objectives
• History of coaching adults in positions where performance was systematically tracked and evaluated
• Confidence engaging and performing before large groups of children. The type of presence that commands attention in a room full of 8-year-olds.

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $100 USD/hour, which equates to $200,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
