Director of Institutional Advancement, Alpha - $400,000/year USD

Crossover
Fort Lauderdale, FL Full Time
POSTED ON 7/24/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 9/19/2026
Families who choose Alpha Miami rely on trusted advisors across every aspect of their lives. You will be the one they've been without.

You will become the person they reach out to when doubt arises, when intuition signals a concern, or when they want to share a milestone they know you will appreciate. You'll develop such deep familiarity with each family that you will sense their needs before articulation—and you'll possess both the judgment and the poise to respond with discretion, warmth, and apparent ease. Over time, your role will extend beyond the school itself. You will become woven into the way these families experience this formative period of their lives.

The landscape of private education in Miami is compact, tightly networked, and intolerant of errors. How a family perceives Alpha doesn't remain contained—it circulates through the networks that influence decisions: the residential tower, the private club, the yacht, the charity gala, the WhatsApp threads that determine where the next cohort enrolls. You will grasp this reality intuitively, because your career has been spent in environments where reputation serves as the sole form of capital and one mistake endures indefinitely. You will cultivate a community that families defend, where inclusion feels natural and word-of-mouth referrals emerge because the experience justifies them.

Miami operates as a global hub by nature. You will engage with families from Latin America, international corporate leaders, finance and technology professionals who have recently relocated to Miami, and globally transient households whose views on education—and institutions more broadly—have been informed by contexts well beyond the American independent school model. Many navigate between Miami, São Paulo, Bogotá, Madrid, and New York with the same ease others exhibit crossing neighborhoods, and they will evaluate Alpha against alternatives anywhere on the planet. The ideal candidate for this position will be equally adept at managing cross-cultural family expectations—and the demand for seamless, sophisticated relationships—as they are at navigating the established terrain of Miami's private school ecosystem.

Alpha does not follow conventional educational models. Students complete core academics in two hours daily through AI-powered applications, then dedicate the remainder of their time to public speaking, critical thinking, and applied projects. No traditional lectures. No unnecessary assignments. Performance in the top 1% nationally.

The families who select Alpha have made a deliberate choice—and in a city where opinions are abundant and educational decisions signal social positioning, they will be asked to justify it repeatedly. You will ensure they never hesitate when answering. If sustaining that confidence through years of discerning, internationally informed scrutiny feels daunting, this position is not suited to you. If it feels like the most compelling dialogue you could be engaged in, continue reading.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Shape the cultural fabric of the school community—its tone, rituals, and implicit standards that allow families to feel a sense of belonging—so that Alpha becomes a place families take pride in, not merely a school they selected
  • Manage the full parent relationship lifecycle—from initial contact through enrollment, retention, and sustained advocacy—ensuring faculty remain focused on students while families always have a dependable point of contact
  • Detect early signals when something is amiss, and address it with the discretion and judgment that preserves trust—including the more difficult judgment of recognizing when a family is not aligned with the school
  • Maintain a visible presence where families gather: arrival, dismissal, evening gatherings, and the spontaneous exchanges that hold the greatest significance
  • Develop a community that both domestic and international families feel invested in protecting—and where referrals occur organically because the experience warrants them
  • Communicate Alpha's narrative persuasively—in individual meetings, at community events, and within the circles of discerning, globally connected families where the school's standing is truly established

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Operating from an office—your visibility within the community defines the role
  • Adhering to standard 9–5 schedules—early mornings, late afternoons, and evening commitments are integral to the position, not occasional occurrences
  • Delegating challenging parent discussions to faculty or other administrators—you assume full ownership of these
  • Relying on administrative infrastructure, established procedures, or a complete team—you function with significant autonomy and develop what is necessary
  • Approaching family relationships as transactional accounts to be administered—this role values authentic engagement, not procedural adherence

Director Of Institutional Advancement Key Responsibilities

Serve as the central trusted relationship for every family's journey at Alpha's Miami campus, and as the architect of the surrounding community culture. Maintain their confidence through challenging moments, establish the traditions and tone that make belonging feel meaningful, and foster the conditions under which satisfied families become active advocates within the networks that define Miami's private education landscape.

Basic Requirements

  • 5 years cultivating and sustaining trust with high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth families in a relationship-intensive, high-touch capacity
  • Demonstrated success guiding sophisticated clients through consequential decisions—with measurable outcomes you can reference: conversion rates, retention figures, referral volume
  • The discretion and composure required to navigate sensitive, confidential matters without adverse impact
  • Proven experience managing and developing personnel—providing coaching, maintaining elevated standards, and executing difficult staffing decisions—not solely relationship or account management
  • Inherent cross-cultural fluency across both globally mobile and established Miami family populations
  • AI-forward orientation—you engage with AI tools proficiently, understand their capabilities and constraints, and proactively identify superior alternatives, even if you are not engineering them directly
  • Located in Miami, available full-time on campus, and adaptable to variable scheduling
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background as a head of school, principal, superintendent, or in an equivalent educational leadership capacity
  • Professional proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese
  • Personal or professional exposure to independent or alternative education models
  • Established connections within Miami's private school parent networks
  • Experience working with internationally mobile, Latin American, or globally connected family populations
  • A personal network extending across the neighborhoods, clubs, and institutions where Alpha's families reside and make decisions
