Director of Institutional Advancement, Alpha - $400,000/year USD

Crossover
Pembroke Pines, FL Full Time
POSTED ON 7/18/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 9/12/2026
Alpha Miami families rely on trusted advisors across every dimension of their lives. This role fills the one gap that remains.

You will become the person they reach out to when uncertainty arises, when something doesn't feel quite right, or when they want to share a milestone they know you will appreciate. Your familiarity with each family will be deep enough to sense their needs before they voice them—and your presence and judgment will allow you to address what they bring you with warmth, discretion, and effortless professionalism. Over time, you won't simply represent their child's school. You will become woven into the way they experience this season of their family's journey.

Miami's private school landscape is intimate, tightly networked, and unforgiving when mistakes occur. A family's experience at Alpha extends far beyond our campus—it circulates through the relationships that count: the residence, the club, the yacht, the gala calendar, the WhatsApp threads that influence where the next family enrolls. You will navigate that ecosystem instinctively, because your career has been spent in environments where reputation is the sole form of capital and one error eclipses all prior success. You will cultivate a community that families feel compelled to protect, where membership feels natural and referrals emerge organically from the strength of the experience.

Miami operates as a global city by nature. You will engage with Latin American families, international executives, finance and technology professionals who have recently relocated to Miami, and globally mobile households whose perspectives on education—and institutions broadly—are informed by experiences well beyond the American independent school model. Many navigate Miami, São Paulo, Bogotá, Madrid, and New York as fluidly as others cross neighborhoods, and they will evaluate Alpha against alternatives anywhere on the globe. The ideal candidate for this position will be equally at ease managing cross-cultural family expectations—and the demand for seamless, sophisticated relationships—as they are with the more conventional dimensions of Miami's private school environment.

Alpha departs from traditional schooling. Students complete their core academic work in two hours daily through AI-powered platforms, then dedicate the remainder of their day to public speaking, critical thinking, and applied projects. No lectures. No redundant assignments. Performance in the top 1% nationally.

The families who select Alpha have made a deliberate choice—and in a city where opinions are abundant and educational decisions function as social currency, they will be asked to justify it repeatedly. You will ensure they are never without a compelling response. If sustaining that conviction through years of refined, internationally informed skepticism feels burdensome, this role is not the right match. If it represents the most engaging dialogue you could participate in, continue reading.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Shape the cultural fabric of the school community—the tone, rituals, and implicit standards that foster a sense of belonging—so Alpha becomes a place families are proud to represent, not merely a school they selected
  • Manage the parent relationship from start to finish—from initial inquiry through enrollment, ongoing retention, and lasting advocacy—so faculty remain concentrated on students and families always have a trusted point of contact
  • Detect early signals when something feels misaligned, and address it with the discretion and judgment that preserves trust—including the more difficult judgment of recognizing when a family is not a good match
  • Maintain visibility where families gather: morning drop-off, afternoon pick-up, evening gatherings, and the spontaneous interactions that carry the most weight
  • Develop a community that both domestic and international families feel invested in protecting—and where referrals occur because the experience justifies them
  • Communicate Alpha's narrative persuasively—in individual conversations, at community events, and in the circles of discerning, globally oriented families where the school's standing is truly established

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Operating from behind a desk—your physical presence within the community defines the role
  • Adhering to standard 9–5 schedules—early mornings, late afternoons, and evening commitments are integral to the position, not occasional demands
  • Passing challenging parent conversations to faculty or administrators—you assume full ownership of these interactions
  • Relying on administrative infrastructure, established protocols, or a complete team—you function with significant autonomy and create what is necessary
  • Approaching family relationships as accounts requiring management—this role values authentic connection over procedural adherence

Director Of Institutional Advancement Key Responsibilities

Serve as the central trusted relationship for every family at Alpha's Miami campus, and as the architect of the community culture that surrounds it. Maintain their confidence during challenging moments, establish the traditions and tone that make belonging feel intentional, and foster the conditions under which satisfied families become active advocates within the networks that influence Miami's private school ecosystem.

Basic Requirements

  • 5 years building and sustaining trust with high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth families in a relationship-intensive, high-touch capacity
  • Demonstrated success guiding discerning clients through significant decisions—with measurable outcomes you can reference: conversion rates, retention figures, referral activity
  • The discretion and poise to navigate sensitive, confidential matters without leaving adverse impact
  • Proven experience managing and developing personnel—coaching, upholding rigorous standards, and making challenging staffing decisions—not solely managing relationships or client portfolios
  • Innate cross-cultural fluency when engaging both globally mobile and established Miami families
  • AI-native orientation—you leverage AI tools with ease, understand their strengths and limitations, and proactively identify superior alternatives, even if you are not developing them independently
  • Located in Miami, available for full-time on-site presence, and comfortable with variable working hours
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background as a head of school, principal, superintendent, or in an equivalent school leadership position
  • Professional proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese
  • Personal or professional exposure to independent or non-traditional educational models
  • Pre-existing connections within Miami's private school parent communities
  • Experience working with internationally mobile, Latin American, or globally connected families
  • A personal network extending across the neighborhoods, clubs, and institutions where Alpha's families reside and make decisions
