This position anchors that trust. You will be the individual families turn to when something doesn't feel right, when perspective is needed, or when they wish to share what's important to them. Not as a function of your title—but because trust has been established through your actions. Your influence will define how these families experience their child's education across one of five California locations: Palo Alto, Piedmont, downtown San Francisco, La Jolla, or South Bay (Los Angeles).

Alpha is constructing a fundamentally different school. Students finish core academics in two hours daily through AI-powered platforms, then dedicate remaining time to public speaking, critical thinking, and real-world application. No lectures. No unnecessary assignments. Top 1% performance outcomes nationally. Our families are discerning, well-counseled, and frequently skeptical. They demand rigorous thinking, not rehearsed responses.

You will steward this dialogue continuously. Not merely during enrollment, but over multiple years. You will articulate AI fluently—its mechanics, its shortcomings, and its significance—particularly with families who launch companies, fund them, or demand precision in all matters. If holding this caliber of conversation feels beyond reach, this role will prove challenging. What You Will Be Doing

• Take ownership of the complete relationship with each family on campus, cultivating trust that deepens over time
• Identify concerns proactively and address them with discretion, urgency, and principled judgment
• Ensure consistent visibility during critical moments: morning drop-off, afternoon pick-up, and intentionally designed parent gatherings
• Facilitate ongoing, substantive discussions about Alpha's AI-powered approach with highly analytical, technology-oriented families
• Create and iterate on community experiences that foster belonging, endorsement, and organic referral growth

• Overseeing admissions pipelines or enrollment metrics—your work begins once families have committed
• Operating primarily from behind a desk or through email—this role demands physical presence
• Using scripted answers or avoiding difficult questions regarding AI or educational philosophy
• Depending on established processes—you will develop frameworks where none currently exist
• Viewing families as transactional accounts—this role values judgment over task execution
  
  

Director Of Family Engagement Key Responsibilities

Establish and maintain profound trust with ultra-high-net-worth families, driving long-term retention, advocacy, and sustained confidence in Alpha's AI-powered educational approach.

Basic Requirements

• Based in or able to commute daily to Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, La Jolla, or Los Angeles
• 5 years working directly with UHNW individuals or families in private schools, private equity, family offices, or elite client service environments
• Proven ability to navigate complex, high-stakes relationships with discretion and sound judgment
• Active, daily user of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) with the ability to clearly explain AI capabilities, risks, and limitations
• Strong presence and communication style that earns credibility with highly educated, high-expectation families
• Familiarity with private or independent school ecosystems, either professionally or personally
• Availability for early mornings, late afternoons, and select evening or weekend events
  
  

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Established relationships within local private school or UHNW networks
• Experience engaging with founders, investors, or technology executives
• Demonstrated success building communities or experiences that generate organic referrals
• Background in early-stage or high-growth settings where ambiguity is prevalent

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $100 USD/hour, which equates to $200,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
