Miami is inherently global. Your work will involve Latin American households, multinational executives, families from finance and technology who have recently relocated to Miami, and globally mobile parents whose views on education—and institutions in general—have been informed by experiences well beyond the American independent school model. Many navigate Miami, São Paulo, Bogotá, Madrid, and New York with the same ease others cross neighborhoods, and they will compare Alpha to alternatives anywhere on the planet. The ideal candidate will be equally adept at managing cross-cultural family relationships—and the expectation of seamless, intuitive rapport—as they are at navigating the established dynamics of Miami's private school ecosystem.

Students complete core academic work in two hours daily through AI-driven applications, dedicating the remainder of their day to public speaking, critical reasoning, and applied projects. What You Will Be Doing

• Shape the cultural identity of the school community—its tone, rituals, and implicit norms—so Alpha becomes a place families take pride in, not simply a school they selected
• Manage the entire parent relationship arc—from initial inquiry through enrollment, retention, and sustained advocacy—ensuring faculty can concentrate on students and families always have a trusted point of contact
• Detect early when something doesn't feel right, and address it with the discretion and judgment that preserves trust—including the more difficult judgment of recognizing when a family is not the right match
• Maintain visibility where families are: morning arrival, afternoon departure, evening gatherings, and the spontaneous exchanges that carry the most weight
• Cultivate a community that both domestic and international families feel invested in protecting—and where referrals occur because the experience merits them
• Communicate Alpha's narrative persuasively—in private conversations, at events, and in the circles of discerning, globally aware families where the school's standing is truly determined
  
  

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Working from behind a desk—your physical presence within the community defines the role
• Keeping standard 9–5 hours—early mornings, late afternoons, and evening commitments are fundamental to the position, not occasional occurrences
• Delegating challenging parent discussions to faculty or administrators—you own these conversations entirely
• Relying on administrative infrastructure, established systems, or a full support team—you function with significant autonomy and develop what's necessary

Director Of Development Key Responsibilities

Serve as the central trusted relationship for every family at Alpha's Miami campus, and as the architect of the community culture surrounding it. Maintain their confidence through difficult moments, establish the traditions and tone that make belonging feel meaningful, and create the environment where satisfied families become active advocates within the networks that influence Miami's independent school landscape.

Basic Requirements

• 5 years building and maintaining trust with high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth families in a relationship-intensive, high-touch capacity
• Demonstrated success guiding sophisticated clients through consequential decisions—with measurable outcomes you can reference: conversion rates, retention figures, referral generation
• The discretion and composure required to manage sensitive, confidential matters without lasting repercussions
• Proven experience managing and developing people—providing coaching, maintaining high standards, and making difficult personnel choices—not simply managing client relationships or accounts
• Innate cross-cultural fluency across both globally mobile and established Miami family networks
• AI-native orientation—you use AI tools with ease, understand their strengths and limitations, and proactively introduce superior alternatives, even if you're not building them yourself
• Located in Miami, available full-time on campus, and comfortable with variable hours
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship requirements

• Background as a head of school, principal, superintendent, or in an equivalent school leadership position
• Professional-level fluency in Spanish or Portuguese
• Personal or professional exposure to independent or non-traditional education models
• Established connections within Miami's private school parent communities
• Experience working with internationally mobile, Latin American, or globally connected families

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $200 USD/hour, which equates to $400,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
