Director of Admissions, Alpha - $400,000/year USD

Crossover
Miami, FL Full Time
POSTED ON 7/8/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/28/2026
Families at Alpha Miami surround themselves with trusted advisors in every domain—except this one.

You will become the person they reach out to when doubt arises, when intuition signals something isn't right, or when they experience a moment only you will fully appreciate. You will develop such familiarity with each family that you sense their needs before articulation—and you will possess the judgment and composure to address whatever they bring with discretion, warmth, and seamless execution. Over time, your role will extend beyond the school itself. You will become woven into the way they navigate this phase of their family's journey.

The private school landscape in Miami is compact, tightly networked, and unforgiving of errors. A family's Alpha experience does not remain contained—it circulates through the channels that carry influence: residential buildings, social clubs, yachts, philanthropic events, and WhatsApp threads that determine where the next cohort enrolls. You will grasp this reality intuitively, because your career has unfolded in environments where reputation is the sole meaningful asset and one mistake endures indefinitely. You will cultivate a community families wish to protect, where inclusion feels organic and referrals emerge because the experience merits them.

Miami is inherently international. Your work will involve Latin American households, expatriate executives, families from finance and technology who have recently relocated to Miami, and globally mobile families whose educational expectations—and institutional relationships—are informed by contexts well beyond the American independent school model. Many navigate between Miami, São Paulo, Bogotá, Madrid, and New York with the same ease others travel within their own city, and they will evaluate Alpha against alternatives anywhere on the globe. The ideal candidate will be equally adept at managing cross-cultural family expectations—and the demand for effortless, sophisticated rapport—as they are at navigating the established rhythms of Miami's private school ecosystem.

Alpha does not conform to traditional schooling. Students complete core academics in two hours daily through AI-driven applications, then dedicate remaining time to public speaking, critical thinking, and applied projects. No conventional lectures. No filler assignments. Top 1% outcomes nationally.

Families who select Alpha have made a deliberate choice—and in a city where opinions are abundant and educational decisions signal status, they will face constant scrutiny. You will ensure they are never without a confident response. If sustaining that conviction through years of well-informed, internationally-calibrated skepticism feels burdensome, this position is not suitable. If it represents the most compelling dialogue you could engage in, continue reading.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Shape the cultural identity of the school community—its tone, rituals, and implicit standards that foster belonging—so Alpha becomes a place families take pride in, not merely a school they selected
  • Manage the full arc of parent engagement—from initial inquiry through enrollment, retention, and long-term advocacy—so educators remain focused on students and families consistently have a trusted point of contact
  • Detect early signals when something feels misaligned, and address it with the discretion and judgment that preserves trust—including the more difficult judgment of recognizing when a family is not the right match
  • Maintain visibility where families gather: morning arrival, afternoon departure, evening gatherings, and the spontaneous exchanges that carry the most weight
  • Cultivate a community that both domestic and international families feel invested in protecting—and where advocacy flows naturally because the experience justifies it
  • Communicate Alpha's narrative persuasively—in private conversations, at events, and within the circles of discerning, globally-oriented families where the school's standing is truly established

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Operating from behind a desk—your physical presence within the community defines the role
  • Adhering to standard 9–5 schedules—early mornings, late afternoons, and evening commitments are intrinsic to the position, not occasional requirements
  • Escalating challenging parent conversations to faculty or administration—you assume full ownership of these interactions
  • Relying on administrative infrastructure, existing workflows, or a complete team—you function with substantial autonomy and construct what is necessary
  • Approaching family relationships as transactional accounts—this role rewards authentic engagement, not procedural adherence

Director Of Admissions Key Responsibilities

Serve as the central trusted relationship for every family's experience at Alpha's Miami campus, and the architect of the surrounding community culture. Maintain their confidence through challenging moments, establish the traditions and tone that make belonging feel meaningful, and generate the conditions under which satisfied families become active advocates within the networks that influence Miami's private school environment.

Basic Requirements

  • 5 years building and sustaining trust with high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth families in a high-touch, relationship-centered capacity
  • Demonstrated success guiding sophisticated clients through consequential decisions—with measurable outcomes you can articulate: conversion rates, retention metrics, referral generation
  • The discretion and poise to navigate sensitive, confidential matters without compromising relationships
  • Proven experience managing and developing personnel—providing coaching, maintaining rigorous standards, and executing difficult staffing decisions—not solely managing relationships or client accounts
  • Innate cross-cultural fluency with both globally mobile and established Miami families
  • AI-native orientation—you engage AI tools confidently, understand their strengths and limitations, and proactively identify superior alternatives, even if you are not building them directly
  • Located in Miami, available for full-time on-site presence, and comfortable with variable scheduling
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship requirements

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background as a head of school, principal, superintendent, or equivalent school leadership position
  • Professional fluency in Spanish or Portuguese
  • Personal or professional exposure to independent or non-traditional educational models
  • Established connections within Miami's private school parent networks
  • Experience working with internationally mobile, Latin American, or globally connected families
  • A personal network extending across the neighborhoods, clubs, and institutions where Alpha's families reside and make decisions
