What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coach, Alpha - $100,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- In-person positions at Alpha campuses in Denver, CO | Atlanta, GA | Nashville, TN | Fort Worth, TX | Houston, TX | Park City, UT
- $100,000 annual salary, distributed weekly. Full health, dental, and vision coverage begins on day one
- Relocation assistance available for candidates willing to move
Alpha operates differently from conventional schools. Students complete a full day's worth of academics in approximately two hours using adaptive software. No traditional lectures. No textbooks. Your responsibility covers what technology cannot: coaching young people through essential life skills such as public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback exchange. You'll facilitate interactive workshops, inspire students to exceed their learning targets, and develop relationships strong enough that a reserved fourth grader eventually presents with confidence before a room of adults.
This position grows over time. During your first year, you'll guide a small student cohort and become fluent in Alpha's operational framework: life skill workshops, motivation sessions, mastery-based evaluation. Once you demonstrate the ability to guide every student to 100% goal achievement while sustaining satisfaction scores above 90%, advancement to Lead Guide becomes possible—coaching a team while maintaining direct student contact. Top performers in this role don't merely transform individual trajectories; they influence how an entire campus functions.
Traditional schools don't offer this opportunity. If you've been coaching, counseling, or mentoring young people and want to eliminate instructional teaching in favor of genuine developmental work, this is your opportunity.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour life skill workshops for K-12 students covering topics such as public speaking, concentration, time management, and constructive feedback exchange (project-based and interactive, never lecture-format)
- Conducting daily motivation sessions where you engage individual students, examine their progress in adaptive learning platforms (via Coachbot analytics), and challenge them to achieve 100% of their weekly targets
- Organizing and administering mastery-based assessments (Test2Pass) to verify students have genuinely acquired each skill, not simply attended
- Cultivating authentic relationships with each student so they trust you sufficiently to accept guidance through resistance, distraction, and uncertainty
- Monitoring student progress against satisfaction metrics and goal completion data, modifying your methods when outcomes underperform
- Presenting lectures to a classroom or providing conventional academic instruction (students acquire core subjects through self-directed adaptive applications, not through you)
- Creating lesson plans from the ground up (Alpha supplies a life skills curriculum and playbooks; your responsibility is to execute them with enthusiasm and narrative skill)
- Handling parent communications or school administrative tasks (Campus Leads manage those functions; you remain concentrated on your students)
- Evaluating homework or overseeing standardized test preparation (neither exists in this environment)
- Operating independently (you're integrated into a campus team with Lead Guides, Campus Leads, and colleagues who exchange feedback and maintain mutual accountability)
Guarantee that every student in your cohort develops a love for school, masters critical life skills, and achieves 100% of their academic targets through adaptive learning software.
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline

- Availability to participate in a paid training program at Alpha's Austin, TX campus
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
- Background in youth development: athletic coaching, camp leadership, or youth program work where you held direct responsibility for motivating children to reach specific objectives
- History of high personal achievement (academic distinctions, competitive athletics, or leadership positions requiring sustained excellence)
- Innate storytelling capability: you can maintain a room of 12-year-olds' attention for an hour without elevating your voice
- Proven ability to motivate disengaged or reluctant students and convert them into active contributors
