At Alpha, academic learning happens through AI-powered applications. No lectures. No traditional textbooks. Half of your day is spent facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops covering public speaking, focus, and the practice of giving and receiving constructive feedback. The other half involves sitting with students individually or in small groups, analyzing their progress via Coachbot analytics, and driving each one toward 100% completion of their weekly app objectives. You will not be following a rigid script—workshops provide a foundation, but those who excel in this position adapt them and create new content when they identify unmet needs.

A successful quarter means every student in your cohort completes their weekly app goals, passes the Test2Pass for every life-skills workshop, and 90% report that they love you. Falling short on any of these three metrics means falling short of the role. In your first year, you will master the operational playbook; as you demonstrate your ability to uphold standards, advancement to Lead Guide becomes possible, where you mentor new hires while continuing to work directly with students.

If you prefer traditional teaching models, need curriculum delivered to you, or believe warmth and rigor cannot coexist, this position is not a fit. What You Will Be Doing

• Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 cohorts addressing public speaking, focus, feedback, and other transferable skills, adapting existing frameworks and creating new sessions when you identify missing components
• Conducting daily individual and small-group motivation sessions that drive every student toward 100% completion of their weekly app goals, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha's incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and your relationship with each student to overcome resistance
• Delivering the Test2Pass (Alpha's mastery-based assessment) for each life skill, then coaching students who do not pass until they achieve mastery
• Adjusting your coaching approach across a broad age spectrum, from kindergarteners requiring high energy and physical engagement to 8th graders needing candid conversation and accountability
• Serving as the adult who maintains high expectations and the adult students want to confide in; warmth creates the foundation to challenge, and challenging demonstrates your belief in their potential
  
  

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Delivering whiteboard lectures; academic instruction is embedded in the apps, not in your role
• Developing curriculum from the ground up; you animate a proven playbook through energy and narrative
• Passively monitoring students at computers; motivation here is active, personalized, and unrelenting
• Reducing a weekly target to help a student meet it; when a student falls behind, the solution is student growth, not goal adjustment
• Marking homework, conducting standardized test preparation, or handling parent outreach; Campus Leads manage parent-facing responsibilities, and the other tasks do not exist in this model
  
  

Associate Key Responsibilities

Guarantee that every student in your K-8 cohort completes their weekly learning objectives, achieves mastery in each life skill, and finishes the year reporting that they loved you.

Basic Requirements

• Able to work on-site at an Alpha campus in Denver, CO; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Austin, TX; Brownsville, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX (Central, South, or The Woodlands); Park City, UT; or Toronto, Canada (relocation assistance provided)
• Bachelor's degree in any field
• Minimum of 3 years working directly with K-8 students (classroom teaching, coaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or youth program leadership)
• A concrete example you can articulate of motivating a K-8 student toward a challenging goal: the objective, your actions, and the result
• Openness to allowing AI to deliver instructional content while you concentrate on motivation and life-skills coaching
• Daily usage of generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude)
• Legal authorization to work in the US without visa sponsorship (or in Canada for the Toronto location)
  
  

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Background in youth sports coaching, debate, camp leadership, theater, or after-school programming where you held direct responsibility for motivating children toward defined goals
• Personal record of high achievement (academic, athletic, or professional), such that holding others to rigorous standards is an ingrained habit, not an adopted stance
• Storytelling ability and stage presence sufficient to engage a room of 12-year-olds for an hour without needing to raise your voice
• Demonstrated success converting disengaged or resistant students into active, invested participants

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $50 USD/hour, which equates to $100,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
