Maintenance Mechanic
Oakfield, WI | Full-Time | Direct Hire
$20-$35/hr Overtime Full Benefits
This Maintenance Mechanic role supports a large-scale food processing facility that operates a highly seasonal production schedule. During peak production months, mechanics play a critical role in keeping equipment running to meet aggressive production goals. During the off-season, the focus shifts to preventive maintenance, equipment overhauls, upgrades, and preparing the plant for the next production run.
You will be part of a hands-on maintenance team responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, fabricating, installing, and maintaining equipment throughout the facility.
What You Will Do
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machinery and equipment throughout the facility
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on processing and packaging equipment
• Diagnose equipment failures and quickly resolve issues to minimize downtime
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and technical manuals
• Design, fabricate, weld, modify, and install equipment as needed
• Monitor equipment performance and make operational adjustments
• Complete equipment rebuilds and overhauls during non-production periods
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and PM documentation
• Complete purchase requests for maintenance parts and supplies
• Assist in training and mentoring new and junior mechanics
• Work closely with operations and maintenance teams to support production goals
• Ensure compliance with GMPs, food safety requirements, and all safety policies
What You Need
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills
• Experience maintaining industrial manufacturing equipment preferred
• Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance best practices
• Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
• Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and technical drawings
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Technical training, trade school, or prior industrial maintenance experience preferred

Schedule
Off-Season (Approx. October – July)
• Four 10-hour shifts, Monday – Thursday
• Focus on preventive maintenance, equipment rebuilds, installations, and plant improvement projects
Pack Season (Approx. Mid-July – Early October)
• 12-hour shifts during harvest operations
• Facility runs continuously throughout production season
• Mechanics typically work up to 84 hours per week for approximately 70 days
• Days off can be accommodated when needed
